The Bay is like a phase. People go through it and then they're done. On the plane back east, I sat next to a former gangbanger who lost two houses in foreclosure and pronounced he was done with the Kali scene. He's moving to Lansing, Michigan.
Myself personally, if I had to move, I'd go to the Northwest primarily and maybe the mountain states as a backup option.
Toro -> Cali wages are higher, but cost of living is even more so. 😢
i also agree with emeraldgem. upstate new york is pretty cewl. definitely not esspensive as far as cost of living. can get boring though. it all depends on where exactly you at.
Grew up in NY and lived in California, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Chicago and no I'm in Florida. Preferably, I'd like to end up in Arizona. Saving the best for last.
I love travelling. There are so many beautiful and cool places in the US. Arizona is awesome! I like the mountains, desert and the freedom. You always know when a place just clicks for you. Yeah...Scottsdale is way too expensive, but I'll figure it out. I really want to live in Sedona.
Ive lived in Houston, Texas... Dallas, Texas and a couple small surrounding towns in Texas... and now Im in Kentucky. It is so different. People are not 'polite' here. They dont go out of their way for each other. Other than that different is not a bad thing. Im enjoying all new experiences. One day I would like to pack everything up and move to The Virgin Islands... St Kitts, St Bart or Jamaica and be a tour guide and have a little hut off the beach.
Why live in Cali when you can live in Nevada or Texas? Texas rappers make me want to live there at some point when I settle down, like Austin or Houston or whatnot. Seriously, a Texan rap video with an old school Cadillac with hydraulics and bull horns mounted on the grill? FUCKING AWESOME! The only way it can get more awesome is if it were an M1 Abrams battle tank with a camera shot down it's 120mm howitzer. The only thing good that comes to mind when I think of Cali is the weed. Although, Ohio has some pretty good weed too, and the lowest prices because of the 48 continental states, Ohio has the loosest penalties for possession and sale.
Another good thing I'd say about Ohio is that like America is the melting pot of the world, Ohio is the melting pot of the U.S. It's not all corn fields here, it's all kind of stuff, not to mention we have the best amusement parks on the freaking planet (Cedar Point and Kings Island baby).
I waited 3 years to get out, waiting for my condo to sell. Thank god, I sold it right before the housing market dumped."
I can't cause my ex and I have joint custody of our daughter, so I can't move out of state with her without his permission or he would get custody. Good thing you did getting out when you did. The market's really in the toilet right now. LOL. The good thing is he paid me off for my share of the house BEFORE all this happened.
I can't believe no one has mentioned Colorado, specifically Denver. That place is beautiful and everyone is so damn healthy it's sickening. The thin air (Come on, who doesn't love being waaaay above sea level), Rockies and massive sports related places, themes and history is a dream come true. That's if you're thinking of staying in the States. I'd move back to BC if I had the chance but there are way too many people and things here to leave behind. I also used to live in dozens of places in California (Long Beach, LA, Anaheim, Sacramento, to name a few), Boston during the summers and Portland. Canada's not so bad either. It's expensive as hell though. Sure the currency doesn't matchup with the American Dollar that well but when you go out to buy groceries compared to that in the States it's a real money sink.
new york city is burning out my sister for many of the reasons . the only impediment to her leaving is that indecisive gemini husband of hers. but the ultimatum is in: either they leave nyc by year's end, or she leaves him.
i'm kind of feeling the same about kali. i guess at some point, some of us get the need to "move on" physically to somewhere else. i've always been intrigued by the northwest. people bitch and moan about rain, but there are worse things. rain and overcast sets a gloomy and moody tone, which certainly suits my temperament at times.
with regards to the bay area, there's a lot of boston/new york/DC people who move out here. at first, it's all good and exciting. a lot tend to leave, but some do stay. san francisco is a unique world onto itself as it tends to attract the offbeat and eclectic type of people. having lived here awhile, i can honestly say i met more interesting and likeable people in the suburbs outside the city rather than in the city itself. as for the San Francisco single male issue raised by sagi, she neglects to point out that many of those fellas are gay or bi or confused, which probably explains why they haven't settled down with a woman. or they could just be straight and pursuing an alternative hetero life style . the more normal woman i've dated here have all lived outside the city, and all the undesirable creepy and emotionally unstable ones were in the city. that said, there's lots of scenes out here, and i'm sure you'll find your scene if you look for it.
And please, north jersey is not a part of new england. it's already bad enough we have to include all of connecticut and vermont.
"You too? Thank God someone else is suffering here! I really hate this place. I would leave if my bf weren't here."
Guess I'm just sick of all the liberal B.S. and having to practically mortgage my daughter to pay rent! I'm all for diversity and having different opinions. The problem here is that if you express any opinion other than the extreme left, you're practically shouted down. Every day there's somebody "outraged" or "feeling marginalized" or some other *&( $ . Basically blaming everybody but themselves for their problems. Granted, there is a lot to do here and the area really is beautiful, but I'm not so sure that makes up for it. LOL. Good thing I took the ferry to the Giants game on Tuesday. Forgot the city was setting up for the torch run. That was another fine mess. Oh well, stepping off my soapbox since there's really nothing I can do about it at this point. Sorry for venting.
while roxi gets to dance with her underage boys in spain 'til sunset, most nightlife joints in these here bay area burghs close at 1 AM. Big city east coast types will definitely be disappointed in that regard, and cooler euro-trash types will go into shock at how dead this place can be.
boring. lame. just like a lot of the flakes who live here.
If you have any sense of self-respect, DO NOT move to New Jersey, better known as the Armpit of America. I repeat, DO NOT move to New Jersey. Unless, of course, you identify with lackluster qualities and overall insignificance with comparison to your counterparts.
Getting tired of Kali. Crowded, costly, f-d up place.
Took a trip back East recently to visit the peeps. NYC is so grim, and you can see it on the weary faces of all the ants on the subway. Mass was okay.
Anyone down with where they're at other than NYC, New England, or Kali?
