'Tucson, AZ (DE) ? A custody battle turned ugly, really ugly as the judge ordered the child to be split in half.
"At first I was stunned at what he ordered, but then I read the Bible like he said and found out he had a valid reason for doing what he did," the mother, Cynthia Jones said.
"The decision was fair. And it has actually improved my relationship with my daughter," Tony Jones, father, told us.
Last month, the seven-year-old girl was taken to her father's taxidermy shop, put to sleep, and stuffed. Then, each parent received one half of their daughter to take care of.
"There was a big disagreement on where to make the cut. We finally decided to cut her right down the middle, from head to toe. I like to prop her up against the wall to make it looks like she's hiding from me," the father said.
As she gave us a tour of her home, we peeked in on her daughter 'sleeping' in her bed. "Except for family get-togethers and work-related functions, I like keep her in bed. She looks so cute like that," the mother said.
The parents are considering swapping their halves every once in awhile, but no final decision has been made.
Police have not charged the parents or the judge with any wrongdoing. "Well, actually we sped things up. We didn't want any radical children's rights organizations coming to town and pushing their agenda," police chief Harry Weivile told us.
The judge in the case hasn't ordered any other children cut in half, but says he wouldn't hesitate to do it again. "I am a very religious and family oriented man and sometimes cutting a kid in half is the right thing to do."'
That seemed sort of odd.
