Does GOOD outweigh the BAD?

I'm talking about people that stay in bad relationships, & when someone f's up, that have to spoil the other person, and then forgiveness is given.
eg. I cheat, the other person is mad & I buy them a car. Sweet deal, but um, er, what about love?!! What kinda realtionship is this?!!
YET, we've all seen it. With others, family or ourselves.
