Does Sun Sign Matter?

Tell me what you think of this. I'll use myself as a test dummy. I have atleast 5 Capricorn influences but only two Scorpios (Sun and Pluto). Does this mean I am really a Capricorn?

I was talking to Roxi this morning and she explained to me about how she had some Librarian influences. I hadn't looked at her as a Libra before but now that I think about it, she certainly seems more like a Libra than a Scorpio to me, which made me think...

How relevant is out sun sign? If we have more than 2 or 3 influences than any other are we more that sign?

I only have one aqua influence...but I seem very aquarian, IMO.

I've wondered about this myself - I only have Virgo Sun in my chart, and it's a Libra Cusp, so how much does it actually influence my behavior? (Assuming that astrology has any validity at all!) Honestly, I often feel more motivation from my Taurus Moon and/or Scorpio Rising - like they play tug-of-war in my psyche, and override rational Virgo...

Rising is supposed to be how you act. Moon is supposed to be how you're seen.

The planets emphasize qualities of our sun sign. You're still what your sun sign is it's just tweaked into different directions than what is assumed as typical from the specific sun description.

Well, perhaps because U always maintain a separate track.

sun sign does matter, but much of this depends on the individual. if the sun is their ruling planet (being that the native's rising is in leo), a singleton or unaspected (it's very rare for any planet in any person's chart to be unaspected), then it will take precedence in their chart and thus their character and personality. the sun is often intertwined with its house, moon and ascendant, thereby adding more dimensions to the individual's character. aspects with other planets from other houses further the coloring of the person's character and personality. hence, no one is really a pure aries, taurus, etc. despite having a stellium in that sign. the reason for this is because, say for example, if you have sun conjunct saturn in gemini, it will lend some cap influences to your character. you will be more methodical and careful, unlike a typical gemini who would probably be more rash and impulsive. place this in a house that the influence and issues of that house will add more flavor to your character.
