This condition, known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) may affect over 10 million Americans while the milder, "Winter Blues" may affect a larger number of individuals.

The typical symptoms of SAD include depression, lack of energy, increased need for sleep, a craving for sweets and weight gain. Symptoms begin in the fall, peak in the winter and usually resolve in the spring. Some individuals experience great bursts of energy and creativity in the spring or early summer. Susceptible individuals who work in buildings without windows may experience SAD-type symptoms at any time of year. Some people with SAD have mild or occasionally severe periods of mania during the spring or summer. If the symptoms are mild, no treatment may be necessary. If they are problematic, then a mood stabilizer such as Lithium might be considered. There is a smaller group of individuals who suffer from summer depression.

Ahhh, good ole SAD. I thought I managed to avoid it.

Have you been feeling angry/irritable lately? Especially towards people or those close to you?

I don't know whether it's the season or if I've just been feeling bothered by everyone for no reason. Blah, people.

nope neither irritated or angray, just a need for a bit of solitude and rethinking....

Solitude would be a nice thing. I've been craving for some kind of getaway or something to just clear my head, because lately it's felt too overcrowded and weighed down.

yeah i can understand that...when i refer to solitude it is something i do when i close my appartment door. no need to travel far. 😉

do you have any creative hobby? i do and it helps me focus on my problems or also just completely switch off.

I do actually. I used to write poetry all the time, but I haven't done so in a few years since I started college. I'm also really into graphic design, but for the same reason mentioned above, I haven't done a lot of it because I would be busy with my school work/organizations/something else. So, I haven't had many creative outlets in a while, lol.

it's important to let go sometimes. 😉 just let things be and don't feel guilty when you take a time out just for yourself.

nobody can reach for a few days? pfft...so what? it's not the end of the world.

nice, graphic design 🙂 me like.

That's something have been struggling with lately, and I've actually been getting irritated with myself that I can't seem to let go of things/caring too much lately. I think my resources have just been zapped. It's why I'm so excited for this winter break. It's much needed.

But I haven't been wanting to get back into graphic design again. 🙂

Haters fall back, but actually am more aggressively in the summer time due to the vitamin D exposure to the sun HAHAHAHAH

Haha, I just imagined you standing under the sun like you're absorbing all of its energy. I hate summer, but I seem to fair better during the spring/summer.

maybe it's your virgo sense of duty....🙂

my best friend is scorp with virgo asc. and i see the struggle within.....

well enjoy your break and much success with whatever you do!

Hahaha, I totally have a virgo asc. as well. I think my virgo is going a little haywire and it's driving my scorp moon insane.

Either way, thank you Pesca! You're always so supportive and thoughtful. 🙂

@candeh shouldn't have to many problems with that you are gorgeous (my girlfriend approves) any ways me 2 but I'm that way cause the most annoying man on this beautiful green earth had to stay over for 2 days (pure hell) so I'm felling you sista !

Well thank you! And to your girlfriend as well. I'm honestly winding down to get my exams out of the way, so when I'm finished, I'll focus on other needs lol. I hope your situation works out for the best too. I know what it's like to be stuck with someone that agitates you for far too long, lol.

SAD sucks big time.

Not sure if I suffer from it per se but I do get a bit down in the dumps usually around January - by then though we are in the midst of our 6 month long winter and what with the post Christmas/New Year blues by that poitn I've usually had enough.

Doesn't help that we have seriously cold winters with temperatures of -15 and only see about 6 hours of daylight each day.

I always try and get away for a week somewhere nice and hot during that time, breaks it up.
