I'm a Taurean woman, 37, and my Scorpio boyfriend of a year, who just recently turned 25, impulsively booked a vacation for both of us at an all-inclusive resort in Mexico. I am excited, but a little apprehensive. First off, Mexico seems cool, but he has already said he plans for US (emphasis his) to party alot and drink, which really is not my thing. At all. He also said he'd love to go exploring and horseback riding, which ARE my things. He is cautioning me that he does NOT want to play "American tourist" and wake up every day with an itinerary of stuff to do, which also worries me, as I like knowing what I am doing before I am doing it. Else, how can we plan? And we'll be in a foreign country?
He is so excited about it (he's told everyone, including his roommates), and I don't really want to voice my misgivings about this trip to him. But I fear that with our life style differences and age differences, this trip might be a real issue. We are fine when we are hanging out at my place, cooking, watching movies and having a couple of drinks, but I think that our differences, and we are, true to astrology, complete opposites, will be exacerbated in a really bad way during 7 nights in Mexico.
Any tips? Should I tell him that I'm feeling anxious about this? I've vacationed with SOs before - he has not. Most of them - two Virgos and one Cap - had similar tastes to mine, so there were no big issues. I don't want this to be a Spring Break-like crazy time, but also don't want to cramp his style ... it's his vacation, too. Any feedback would be helpful.
Oh, Starfish, that is so hard for me! I'm a teacher, so my life is pretty much built around routine and repetition. I am looking forward to this, as I've never taken a beach vacation before. I just really don't want to be the old "fuddy-duddy" who doesn't know how to have a good time in Mexico. But at the same time, I am who I am, and I need him to appreciate that seeing some historical sites are just as important to me as drinking and dancing are to him.

Then don't go.
"I don't really want to voice my misgivings about this trip to him. But I fear that with our life style differences and age differences, this trip might be a real issue."
Sounds like you've already decided that this trip is going to be a drag, a party-pooper .. so why even bother since you've already made up your mind that you're going to have an issue with it.

"Lesson for the teacher: Do your homework first then book vacation."
But wasn't that this Scorpio guy who booked the vacation?
"who just recently turned 25, impulsively booked a vacation for both of us"
My bf booked the trip.
Um, I'm a little confused. I thought this was in part a message board where one could come for advice. I have misgivings. I'm human and at 37, I've been in my share of shitty relationships. I overthink. This is a problem, and I'm aware of it. Obviously I do NOT want the vacation to be shitty, which is why I came here asking for ... wait for it ... help. So people telling me my relationship is crap and that I'm insane really is not at all helpful and is pretty damned mean-spirited.
"historical sites? you are headed to a beach...not Paris."
Er, do you know ANYTHING about Mexico? Anything at all, other than that's where tequila is made?
If I am being honest, I am concerned that this will be the schism in our relationship. To say his family does NOT approve of their only son seeing a woman 12 years his senior is an understatement. Some of his former friends made the typical boring "cougar" comments, which is why they are former friends. I have to deal with my own family calling me anything from a sugar mama to a pathetic woman who is afraid to date someone her own age. It is sad that in this day and age there are such concerns, but it's my reality. I love this man. I feel more alive and happy with this man than I did with the men my age and older I dated before him. I don't however, want him to start wondering whether he would've had a better vacation if his girlfriend had been a hard-partying 23-year-old rather than a set in her ways 37-year-old.
I apologize for being snappish, it was uncalled for. But I am truly in distress over this. Last night he was talking about it and so excited and I did feel excitement, but I am very much afraid, and that is the truth.

Thistledown
When I go out with my older sister (Taurus)49, she gets on my fucking nerves, she like to sit and look like she is miss diva, like she has all this class, she don't dance, and if she do it is one or two songs, and the rest of the time she is just sitting at the table drinking and talking and soaking up other peoples business, only to turn around the next day and tell it to her other friends. To me she is fake. And I tell her all the time she is an undercover freak, she make people think that she is so bushie, when she is not.
Know me(47) when I go out she tells me all the time "don't cut up" I pays no attention to her because I am going to be me. I dance, get drunk, flirt anything I feel like I want to do. She get's so furious with me, when I go out and party with her. Because that is what I am doing partying!!. She says to me "why you dancing like that" and I tell her to get a grip, she grits on me, and just try and talk down to me because I don't do or act the way she wants me to. My thing is if you say let's party then let's party!!!!.
But at the same time, her friends, always ask her if I am going to be coming to the funtion, because, I get the party going.
So my suggestion to you is, either you go with him and let your hair down some, not all because I don't think you taurus have it in you. No pun intended put taurus, women to me are to stuck up and to bushie always focusing on appearance when out than having a good time.
My sister gets mad at me everytime, but you know, I tell her all the time. "I am not you, and you need to learn to except me for who I am"

You are already going into this trip with negative vibes.
Let go and enjoy just letting things fall where they may in Mexico or don't go if you feel you definately will not have a good time.
Obviously, with the age gap, you would have different agendas of course...he's still in that "party mode" But you already knew that going into this relationship.
You can also do your own thing while there and always meet up later. If he wants to party...let him. But I betchya if you just let your hair down you will have a blast. If you aren't having fun once you get there...find other people to do your kind of stuff with.
Star: "How Stella got her Groove back"...LOL...LOVE that movie!

You come in here with a negative attitude, and then get bitchy because people notice, and lay a guilt trip on to get people to pick your spirits up FOR you.
Does everybody do everything for you?
Alright, I'll tell you what to do then.
Take the portion of the money that would be spent on you and put a down payment on a cemetary lot.

That?s a major differerence between scorp and taurians. I like to go through vacation feeling what I?m going through, exploring, that?s the experience for me. I?m currently on vacation and was discussing vacation with a taurian months back and just didn?t know how we?d be able to go on vacation ever if the occasion showed up. She seemed to be afraid of anything that she?s not use to and wants to plan ahead wanting to know everything in advance. I don?t play tourist as well, I go where the people of the country live and don?t really follow set tourist itinirary. That?s vacation to me doing what the people of this new country do. I may go to a few tourist sites but trust me but that it can?t be my whole trip. She seemed to be frighten by walking in through the unknown and to me that?s the whole purpose of vacation. If I know everything in advance, I want see any purpose in going.

I have to stick up for my fellow earth sign. I understand your concerns, especially since he is so excited about it. I went on vacation with my sag last year and I was worried sick about how everything was going to play out and making sure that we both did everything we wanted to do. Basically I wanted control (I teach as well). When we arrived, all that worry and desire to plan flew out the window because I was in a great place and in love! It was a great time. We split our time between doing touristy stuff (which is impossible to avoid) and fun partying stuff. We agreed to spend a day apart doing whatever we wanted to do and when we got back together it was really great. You're going to have a fun time. Maybe you should propose that one day you get to do all of your touristy stuff so at least you'll have that "rock" to hold onto.
