Does it occur to any of you lot that it isn't the fakers who leave? Maybe the ones leaving are those who initially thought this was a cool forum but eventually got sick of all the bitching and sniping.

Maybe, but what's the point? Most times, if someone deletes a screen name, and creates a new one, that person is still traceable back their old screen name after they've posted for a while - we all have distinctive, individualized ways of communicating on here...

If the intent is to stop an episode of harassment, it's still just a temporary fix...

Odds are, if you were a Liar & a Faker under Screen Name #1, you're gonna be the same Liar & Faker under Screen Name #2...

Why not be genuine from the start, and save yourself a lot of heartache??

yes, that message gets deleted only after a while so the others have (a little) time to read their last words and somtimes words are put into other people's comment. So your original idea was correct.
