weird Scorpio man behaviour

Hi I'm new and need some help please
Why would a Scorpio guy say he doesn't want to talk to you anymore and then asking his best friend to call me and ask me how I'm doing?
Long story short:
We met a long time ago and has been a lover (not a bf/partner, but we've been talking about a future) and have kept in touch since until half year ago.
Fall out was basically him compromising my ethics by not taking responsibility for his actions towards his family/friends.
He got pissed at me because I wanted to choose what is right and then he ghosted??
Now one his best friends called me a few days ago "just" to ask how I'm doing etc..(we didn't talk about the Scorpio). He never ever called me in the 10 years I've known him, only texts. So I have a strong feeling Scorpio is behind that.
So what is this?
Any thoughts? Do I wait? Move on?

Next day we talked and he had a "hunch" I was with someone else that evening

Eventually I said that when people invest time, energy and effort in him he ought to explain himself if something happens.
It was the first time ever he realized and acknowledged that he didnt care about how his actions effect people, and is going to reflect on it more for the people he cares about
He did ask his friends about me a while ago, and told me he has a cold relation with them now
How to go from here ? I have a bit of trust issues and he turned his back on me. i feel the bad is overlapping the good, and im not sure if he will be considerate of me in the future.

he kept asking if he should clarify more things and i said its all good now. but actually i slept on it and there are more things id like to know.
do i wait for him to make the effort and ask then or shall i contact him and ask it so i know where we stand with it all
