My grandad came to me in a dream first as a

Bluejay and then as himself floating in midair.


Every now and again when I am going through something I will see a real physical Bluejay close

in kind of a weird way. It'll be flying with a flock

of ducks or will be the only one among cardinals eating. One landed right outside my window

as I was in the living room looking out. I know

it's his way of telling me it's him and things are ok.

I always loved open space, the ocean, ice, the winds… I can’t imagine not living by water.

My favorite animal are crows and ravens which are home in our cliffs and even the coldest regions. I’d like to join them, to ride on the storms, and keep an eye on my family guarding them from afar. And to warn them should some peril come and endanger them.

🤷🏼‍♀️ idk, I just like what I described about them - nobody cares to hunt or trap them which is essential for me to pick them exactly🤣 they're not interesting like parrots or peacocks or swans etc. They're not as good as birds of pray for use in hunting or recreation. Basically nobody cares abou them and they just do whatever they feel like, so that's why I picked them😂 like you said, they steal food from you or screech and people still have to just tolerate them😁

I would come back as a ladybug or a cat. Ladybugs remind me of loved ones who have passed who have come back to remind me that everything will be ok. It seems like whenever I’m depressed or going through a rough time a ladybug shows up and brings a sort of peace. Cats are just very comforting creatures to me and have always brought me much happiness. I would want to bring that comfort and peace to others.

I know the game "Hellblade". I like the stream of voices and how they tell part of the lore from rhinestones. The atmosphere is top notch. The protagonist is not Norse, but her journey and interpretation of the myths is quite well done. What do you like about the game?

Ravens (corvids in general are) are quite incredible. I love the water noises they make. They're very intelligent, and will not only learn who's good to them and who's not, but teach each other, so generations of Ravens will visit benefactors. They will also leave gifts for their favorites lol.


I have to laugh because of all things, Ravens were a favorite of someone who passed recently and here's a conversation about them as a symbol of a visit from the afterlife, just as I was thinking of that person.


As to the original question, it would vary by the person. If possible that is. While some might be in tune with one thing, another might not. I have people in my life of very different beliefs, and it makes it a bit complicated lol. But if I were to choose, I choose wolf.

Wolves and bears are quite common in Nordic/Germanic history. There were for instance berserkers like the bear warriors and the wolf warriors, the Ulfheðnar. And of course you have Fenrisúlfr, the big wolf, who devours the sun.

Enough can't be said about crows. I watch
them a lot. I would feed birds hoping they'd come.

I know the game "Hellblade". I like the stream of voices and how they tell part of the lore from rhinestones. The atmosphere is top notch. The protagonist is not Norse, but her journey and interpretation of the myths is quite well done. What do you like about the game?

There is the hammer in it with a raven overly on it (left wing, middle, right wing), and also there is the claw as to shapes, which ends in three raven heads again. Maybe it looks like an owl or eagle to you, but that's how they depicted it.

The Vikings started a mass production of jewelry insofar as they had molds that were poured out. A few of these molds have been rediscovered in harbor basins where they were probably lost while loading a ship. The details on each piece, however, were handmade unique pieces, for example, shaped silver threads that were soldered on. While the level of detail is amazing, it obviously doesn't come close to today's display capabilities. Also, much was more symbolized rather than a real life look a like.

I think it's something about the eyes, it makes me think of owl. It's not so much the realism, just more of the feeling it gives. Or perhaps I was looking for owl. Owl and raven both have some significance for me.


The detail work is phenomenal. Interesting history. Handmade pieces tend to have a much more...personal feel than mass production, whether the detail is "clearer" or not.

Owls are quite popular in Norse mythology too, they are birds of good omen and wisdom. There are gods related to them, too (like Odin's wife, Frigga). Outside of wisdom and enlightenment, the owl was also commonly associated with kindness and compassion. Many Norse saw the presence of an owl as a symbol of a new beginning, or a path to something greater, and overcoming evil. Some believed they could even endow people with the ability to see at night or, in a more abstract fashion, see through the “darkness” we hold in ourselves, allowing us to discover and overcome our inner demons.

Perhaps to troll someone though, if feeling miscievous...? My father did that to me. When alive, he was under the impression that I didn't believe in life after death, simply because he knew I was an atheist. After he died, he went to great lengths to let me know that I was wrong...


I always believed we "outlive" our death, though.

I would be a spirit in dreams. To take you on an adventure, to quell your fears, to remind you of good things. People are easier to communicate with when they're sleeping anyway.
