My taurus guy, money & my birthday

Apparently there's a little something going on here about 'Taurus & money'. Guess I came at the right time haha.
The thing is that my birthday is in 2 days and due to me not having time on the day itself, my amazing taurus friend is going to try to surprise me tomorrow. I know he's going to try to do something nice for me, but I also know he's unemployed (recently graduated) and hasn't had any luck so far. It's getting frustrating for him and I know how much a tight budget freaks you guys out.
I already told him I don't want huge presents since that's not my style anyway (pisces), I just want to spend the day with the people I love having fun. Sitting in the sun for all I care, that's free Big Grin
I just wonder now, how can I show my appreciation for his efforts, without stepping on his toes?
He's really unsure of what I want, when all I want is what I said.
Last time he gave me a gift for Christmas he just dropped it in my lap and walked to the kitchen.
As if it was nothing and I just sat there: what the? He didn't want to make a huge display out of it probably.
So, any input as to how you guys like to be thanked for an effort this size, when practically broke?
A sincere thanks, a smile and a lovely kiss.
When I cannot afford to buy, I make. Momma got a needlework piece I did last week, Da will get a pie this week. His fave. There's love inside. smile
I will not give to those I do not care for.

Congratulations on your Tau friend graduating!
I'm kind of open with information right now, so I'll share a bit. My hubs told me when his buddy and him graduated they didnt really need much of anything. They surprised themselves (and a couple of other really good friends, one is a Pisces sun incidently) with their favourite pasttimes. They used to get together to study, (not always) and when they did, they had their favourite snacks. So, in one of their surprises to each-other, were bags of their favourite snacks & drinks. (yes this is not a expensive gift) but it was the "thought" and how they laughed over it. Also, their families sharing good food, cooking a nice bbq and small feast for them.
It's not about the "PRICE" but the company.
@venusianbull: I know it's the thought that counts, it does for me because I know he's very short on cash.. yet still does this for me. His birthday is next month and I'm going to cook for him. The details aren't clear yet, got 2 months still, but he's going to get stuffed with food.
@Torro: hahahah THAT sounds spot on. It's like saying "There. I got you something. That means that I care. You happy now?" Yeah I am happy, I just want you to stand there so I can say it and kiss you Winking If you don't let me, I'll make you suffer on your next gift occasion too Big Grin
@lisabethur8: Yes! I like gifts that have an idea, sentiment or story behind it. Much like that favorite snack, it shows me you know me (or I know you) and that's priceless.
A smile, hug, kiss he'll get. And a martini (his fave) is on me Winking
I think you should just enjoy it. smile
My bull gave me a little music box a few months ago and I genuinely love it and whenever he sees me playing with it, his face light up like a little kid. That's how simple they are...seing you happy means the world to them.. and that's when you ask for more favors Tongue j/k

Oh I forgot to add..a kiss and cuddle and a thank you is all that's required smile

They both got a kiss, big hug (where I lifted his cousin off the ground) at the first hi.
Told them both I loved what they did, another big kiss, again the hug & spinning her around when we parted 2 hours ago.
His birthday is next month.. Have I got stuff planned Tongue
It meant even more cause I know how short on cash he is, yet he still spend way too much on me in my opinion.
Homemade cake with candles, dinner at a restaurant, traintickets al fully compted..
Had to stop myself from getting misty 4 times, big idiot emo sap I am Tongue
I love you guys so much ???
Not always, but today I really do.
