Obviously we all are individuals, so it's a myriad of reasons a lot of people are feeling this "blah" "leave me the f@ck alone feeling." I believe that part of it is the changing of the seasons (weather), and it's about to get into the full fledged holiday season, and that can be very stressful for people. It doesn't stress me out anymore, but I don't have a traditional viewpoint on that stuff, so I may be the odd woman out. The only holiday I can't stand is New Year's Eve - actually it's that horrible, depressing song, "Auld Lang Syne(sp)" whoever thought THAT song would make people want to ring in the new year were smoking some serious dope. Anywho, I don't like it because it's like looking back on the past year, and all the crap I didn't accomplish; versus looking back and see all I did accomplish. It's just perspective. With that being said, I don't want my lady bullettes being sad and depressed; however, do what you must, then shake it off get yourself all dolled up (or dressed up, or whatever you want) and go out and do something fun and nice just for you!
Sadly, I don't have anything additional to impart, but being a fellow bullette, I know what each of you are saying, and trust me SeeingRed, I had a whole semester of no phones, etc, when I was in high school. I did the very bare minimum: get up, shower, go to school, come home and go to bed. I needed to do that for whatever reason. Now, I may get into a bit of a funk every now and again, but it rarely last more than a long weekend. I allow myself to do whatever I want to do from Friday - Monday morning - laugh, cry, eat & drink. It is cathartic and does help a lot!

Yes, I've been to and had these parties and (for the most part) they are a blast! As long as I have my thermos of Hot Chocolate and Bailey's while I cook, I'm all good! A thermos of that, and ALL is right in the world. Then, I finish cooking and go snuggle under a blankey and sit in front of the fireplace listening to holiday music. Le sigh...life is so friggin' good sometimes!
Ugh, except for one year, one of my friends had a friend who had this (beautiful) home in the mountains of AZ. Long story short. A whole bunch of highbrow (see: uber snobby) women, all annoying and full of themselves went up for a long weekend to bake cookies and (allegedly) have fun! Me and my friend drove up on that Saturday, and all of them had gone up on Friday. When we got there, they were all wasted and NO cookies had even been started. My friend (an Aqua) and I, just took over the kitchen and cooked like 6 different types of cookies, fudge and a few cakes. Those lazy itches didn't do S# $ ! and to top it all off, when you leave, you are supposed to clean the place, as the ladies family and friends sometimes would go up there, so not only did I have to drive my a $ $ up to cook for some ungrateful wretches, but I also had to clean up after them. Ummm, yeah, you can already know where this story is headed. My horns got low, the smoke started coming out of my nostrils, and everybody had to get outta' my way. My friend looked at her friend and was like, "You shouldn't have pushed her, you guys are rude and showed your a $ $ es, now she's about to show you hers." Suffice to say, I wasn't invited back the next year 🙂 Hey, sometimes the truth hurts, but I had to tell each and everyone of those little itches EXACTLY what I thought of them and their entitled behavior. I won't even go into the night we went out to the bars, and like (some) selfish, jealous women can be. One of the ladies hit it off with a guy, and the others were green w/envy and were pissed that she wanted to stay. I was like, "She's a grown a $ $ women, if she wants to have fun, leave her alone!" They were not a happy bunch. Blech, those kinds of women I can do without! Than

I would always get Christmas card from high school mate, his wife wrote them out. Those bragging ones that about curdled the contents of your stomach. I wrote one out, sent it to them about the kids owning companies, learning several languages, teaching the cats to speak, etc. I didn't get one after that. 😛

HAHAHAHAAAAAAAA! I friggin' love it! Yeah, who the f@ck ever thought those cards were a good idea—? I mean, I know tons of people who do that "year end wrap up letter" to family and friends. I received and read two of them several years ago, and it about made me want to puke on the spot. After that, whenever I get those now, I just put them in the shredder 🙂 mean, yeah, whatever! LOL!

Yes, holiday food is the bane of ALL dieters and health conscious folks existence!!! Well, it is for me! I eat more sugary crap from mid-November through January 1 than I do in the entire year! I bake so much to give away that I friggin' ALWAYS have to sample a "bit." The thing is, I'm a salty/savory person NOT a sweet person (well, we all know I'm not sweet 😉 ).
So yes, I really don't eat a lot of food, I just eat stuff I SHOULDN'T be eating!

Forgot to add, on the same token, I don't want to get a holiday letter talking about horribly bad things either! I'm equally against those letters for too much good or too much bad! HA!

Precisely! For me it's not the sweets so much ( even though I freaking love pie, punkin rolls..anything with a kiss of cream cheese ) it's the potatoes and gravy, the stuffing, the homemade yeast rolls and casseroles. Anything guaranteed to stick right to my ass!

Did I mention REAL butter? Good grief, I think I'm drooling. *dabbing mouth daintily*

^^^^yes, a little bit goes a long way! Even when I saute w/my olive oil, I typically will always put just a dab of butter in it! It really deepens the flavor and adds a bit of love to the dish 🙂
My mac & cheese will put somebody into cardiac arrest I'm afraid, as it has a full stick of butter, 4-6 types of cheese and full D milk (among other secret ingredients). I don't like milk at all, I drink soy milk if it's in my cereal, but with cooking; especially this type of stuff, it has to be the real deal! No screwing around!

I handed the recipe over to a family friend and she tried to low fat it, her daughter said it was an abomination. LOL

You must have been in my kitchen a couple weeks ago, because I make something similar. Called Baked Potatoe Casserole! Whew, makes you want to smack somebody it's so good!
Awww ladies. We must always be thankful for everyday; even the bad ones. I have a bunch of sayings on this dry erase board by my desk, and the first saying is, "Live today as if it's your last!" I'm not successful everyday in doing that, but most days I try!
