So is it me or have Homer and Marge been having a marital crisis every goddamn episode for the last 15 years or so?! Jfc how many times will you rekindle only to go back to having the exact same issue with eachother by the next episode!
It really says something about the times we live in. I bet the (lazy!) writers all come from broken homes, they obviously have no clue how a man and a woman in a normal marriage interact. You can't write what you don't know. They aren't even friends when the episode starts, so how they work towards setting their differences aside by the end of it is beyond me. "I learned..." doesn't cut it.
I remember back in the 90s when they were solid. They had underlying differences but there was always respect. Maybe one or two episodes every season highlighted more serious marital issues that needed mending, but overall their marriage was the very foundation of the show. And the notion that you don't need to have the same intrests or temperament in order to be happily married.
What happened? Aside from 'Sex and the City' and Tinder when ppl started losing track of a good thing when they saw it . . .
