would you wear mini dresses?

is it appropriate where you live or would you get stared at?

tonight we were out to a special event, and young ladies, wearing nice mini -dresses.

I thought yay! it's going back into style .

Totally acceptable in my neck of the woods but I live on the beach, so normally walking around barefoot with a bikini is fine too.

I would suggest panties, stockings or bending down in a feminine manner.

But too cute! Reminds me of the 60-70's minis. Plus the illusion that mini dresses create that your legs are longer can be flattering. : )

I don't see anything wrong with how anyone dresses tbh.
very cool! wow, the beach. Definitely can see a lot of ladies wearing really feminine free flowing dresses.

this is what I sometimes wear,

but I like the 60s wear up above, that's what the ladies were kind of wearing, so beautiful!!

Love them, and I have worn mini dresses and skirts since my teen years, whether they were "in" or not. I work hard to keep my legs looking nice so I can wear them.

Where I live, it's rare to see anyone in mini anything, so I stand out, but not in a bad way. I want to express myself, and mini dresses and skirts are part of that.
It's interesting that even though a lot of time has passed since minis were first the rage, minis were MUCH shorter at their peak than they usually are now. For example:

If you watch reruns of The Brady Bunch, you'll also see how short skirts and dresses could be in the late 60s and early 70s.

Have you noticed the style of bathing suit has also returned from that era? I love it! So feminine. High waisted bikinis!

Good point! Yes, that is very feminine for sure, and I think for some women much more flattering than other style s.

From a famous episode of The Brady Bunch, because it shows mini dresses of varying hem lengths.

Dirty minds hush about this clip - don't ruin the innocence of my youth Winking

That's more my style . I don't wear little dresses without tights, a jacket, or a bellero *^___^*

Fall fashion is so much fun!
@starwars I like the pictures you posted. Where do you shop for your mini dresses? It might help me because we're a similar height. Sometimes I have to buy micro mini so they're short enough on me.
@Montgomery I'm trying to find the picture you posted on DXP with a woman in a mini dress, or mini skirt, long scarf, and knee high boots in a colour that match the hat that the model is wearing. If you can post again, that would be great. I really liked the outfit and it's driving me crazy that I can't find it with search.

If cc (sensitiveblues) had not deleted, it would probably be easier.

I think it was on one of her threads, tbh-- I thought about that one, too. :/

That's it! My memory morphed two things together mistakenly. Thanks! I'm glad you figured out what I meant and it wasn't forever lost in CCs dead thread.

ugh! I feel you girl! I do the same! the ones that usually fit are from Forever21

Missguided, Topshop , Zara. If you could find a good Korean site that ships to your countery then that'd be great, its hard to find a good one with high q though! Sad

Great! That helps a lot. smile I've done well with some Forever21 stuff too. Good idea about Korean sites. Japanese can work too. My feet aren't tiny (I'm US size 6, 36 UK) so at least it's easy to find shoes and boots that fit.

#teamshorty all the way smile

Perfectly acceptable where I am. Just need to tan my legs a bit more!

Mini dresses make me uncomfortable.

I already have long legs and whenever I try to wear one, I feel like I'd be walking around with nothing but a shirt.
I have long legs proportionally too (even though I'm short in height) and I know what you mean - sometimes I feel that way in mini dresses, but when I look at myself in the mirror, or remind myself that long legs are considered ideal - even freakishly long ones - I feel comfortable again.

I'm 6ft tall. Creeps would be looking up at my business no problem lol.

Ah, okay, that is a bit of a problem, no question. lol smile

I have to be careful in minis when doing things like picking things up. I try to remind myself to lower my body by bending my knees. Good thigh workout. smile

Lol. No bend and snap in a mini dress!

lol. I watched that scene in Legally Blonde just now to look at clothing, for fun, and anyone in a skirt was well protected by their hemline for sure. smile

Oh I dig your style ! I would pair that with high ankle boots!!

I see alot of this kind of dress wear and I think every female in my area code owns a long, white hippie skirt too.

Or the mini dress I prefer is rather free flowing. Still hippie mentality.

thanks! the 2nd one I like, the 1st one, hm it's okay.

you can never go wrong with a mini dress. I love them! they are as comfy as PJ's. there was a time where all what I used to wear were mini dresses and playsuits. lately ive been more into midi dresses, but I still rock some mini ones.

User Submitted Image

I bought this one, haven't worn it yet.

User Submitted Image

I'm thinking of pairing it with brown boots and white socks to make it extra hippie
that's realy cute, starwars. very flowery. for me, the off shoulder isn't my style though.

above, I like the black dress. and those long black boots? very nice!!

that's waaayyy short for my taste. lol I think it's still pretty especially for women who are more daring.

definitely need a nice pair of legs too. and the heels make your legs long and stem-like.

they look so proper and sweet.
I like this. lol

but it is a bit short. weirdly if it's worn as shorts, it's not so short.

I wore shorts in Portugal and spain and a lot of women were wearing dresses, but not so much mini's , more dresses that were above your knees. mini's would be really like wearing short shorts.

I do like the mini's in Copper's video of Brady Bunch. It isn't too naughty but look very proper and stylish.
