Periods

Since I'm currently going through one of my heaviest and most unpleasant periods of my life I felt I needed to know what other mammal on this miserable planet has to bleed every month. I knew it couldn't just be humans...however, from what I have read we have it the worst! So fucking unfair. So what other animals get to join in our misery? Well apparently humans are part of the 1% of the unlucky bastards on this planet that have monthly menstruation..

1.Primates have them too... no surprise since they are out closest cousins. However, not all primates have them. So there are some other monkeys out there laughing their asses off at us.

2.BATS. Yes. Apparently the flying rodents have periods. No wonder they are so pissed off and attack people when they are disturbed. They are probably in the middle of PMSing and just want to be left alone in the dark...I know I can relate to that.

3. Elephant Shrews. No, I'm not talking about our highly intelligent friends who think we are cute like kittens.. they are also little rodents who have long trunks like elephants.

So that's it. Out of the billion on species on this planet. We are 1% of them who get the bloody pleasure of periods each month. How does that make you feel? I'm personally pissed off!

It just means everything is working smile but yes that are a pain lol

Yeah... but it sucks that we happen to be one of the few species who get them. I actually kind of find it interesting and would like to know why and how that came to be.

Also, I wonder if that is how vampires and bats came to be related to each other. Did they see the blood on or around the bats? Do we have some kind of relation to bats from our evolution? Why dont all primates get them? So many questions

My bitch gets hers haha

My dog did get hers and it lasted three to four weeks and she was most defiantly in pain and was very grouchy.

She’s been fixed now and survived cancer and had all her bits removed. Poor girl.

Dogs dont get periods. They bleed but it's from the vagina and not the uterus, it also serves a different purpose than what humans go through. Its when they go into heat and is part of the pharamones they give off. It's a sign of fertility. Opposite of humans where the period is the end.

Interesting stuff I think. Most animals, dogs included, obsorbe the nutrients the body has put out for the preparation of pregnancy. Then they start the cycle again.

Hows your diet and or exercise levels?

Lots of different factors contribute to the flow levels.

Once I stopped using tampons pain levels shrunk by 30% easily

I've been exercising more and my diet is okay. Not the best but not horrible. I've been losing weight lately. I have PCOS so dont have normal periods. But since I've been exercising and taking a little better care of myself they are somewhat regulating. I dont get cramps for the most part, I can probably count the number of times I've had cramps on my hand, so when I do get them I freak out. This is a heavy period with cramping and so I'm miserable. It has slowed down tho here on day 4.

I wonder if Eva, Gemitati, and Hydorah miss having their periods 🤔
Doubt it. I always get from older woman "I'm so glad I dont have to deal with that anymore".

During your period you’re supposed to rest, otherwise it interferes with your flow.

Too much exercise can reduce the flow, leaving some menstrual products behind in your uterus. When your next period comes your body has to get rid of old and new menstrual products, thus increasing your flow and overall affecting the health of your uterus and the way it functions.

When I read you did your 5k run while on your period, my uterus shook. 😬 RIP uterus. 😁

I didnt do a lot of running. I was a zombie so was chasing after people in a zone. I didnt run the entire 5k. However I did rest for the rest of the weekend. Oh. And no high heels for me...I can barely walk with out tripping over my bare feetLaughing
You forgot dogs.

I feel your pain tho sis

I didn't forget dogs. Dogs dont have periods in the same sense that humans, primates, bats, and elephant shrew, do. It's something different that also causes bleeding and has nothing to do with their uterus. It's all kind of weird and fascinating to me. smile
Menstruation in mammals is the shedding of the uterine lining (endometrium). It occurs on a regular basis in sexually reproductive-age females of certain mammal species.

Although there is some disagreement in definitions between sources, menstruation is generally considered to be limited to primates. Overt menstruation (where there is bleeding from the uterus through the vagina) is found primarily in humans and close relatives such as chimpanzees.[1] It is common in simians (Old World monkeys, and apes), but completely lacking in strepsirrhine primates and possibly weakly present in tarsiers. Beyond primates, it is known only in bats and the elephant shrew.[2][3][4][5]

Females of other species of placental mammal undergo estrous cycles, in which the endometrium is completely reabsorbed by the animal (covert menstruation) at the end of its reproductive cycle[citation needed]. Many zoologists regard this as different from a "true" menstrual cycle. Female domestic animals used for breeding —for example dogs, pigs, cattle, or horses— are monitored for physical signs of an estrous cycle period, which indicates that the animal is ready for insemination.
