What are some good suggestions for a honeymoon?

I'm getting married next October....

My partner and I would like something romantic yet adventurous..a place where we can explore/sightsee yet relax too.

Japan interests me very much. We can go to Tokyo and see the city life but then head to somewhere like Kyoto and relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

I'm not one to just lay on a beach all day, it doesn't excite me very much! A beach holiday is fine as long as there are other things to do.
