Are Humans The First Intelligent Life Form

Scientist say with how big the universe is statistically we can't be alone but what if were one of the first to appear on the scene and more intelligent life will evolve after us. We are the ancients in the universe like the egyptians or greeks are our predecessors on earth.

Humans are so arrogant and we still seem to believe the entire Universe revolves around us. It is not that long ago that we believed that the World was flat and the Sun and Moon revolved around us.
We live on an unremarkable Blue and Green Planet in the outer realms of the Milky Way.
What I find remarkable is that any advanced Civilization would even bother with us. As a Species, we are so besotted with ourselves that most really cannot comprehend that any other race could possibly be more advanced than us.
When it comes to us receiving signals from Space, it is probable that an advanced race wouldn't be using Radio waves for communications across the vastness of Space. So it would be like someone using smoke signals to try to communicate with a race using radio.
There is so much hard evidence of visitations by Craft and Alien beings that it is hard to think that there isn't some contact going on. Many who have reported these events are high ranking officials.
At the latest count there are 320 Billion stars that we can "see". That is a huge number of possibilities to account for even if life occurs by random chance.
Also bear in mind that the dominant species on this planet have been wiped out nearly to extinction so, it is not outrageous to consider that there could be races out there who never had setbacks and therefore would be "more advanced" than Humanity.
There is also a growing consensus that we are the product of Genetic manipulation as Cancerkid referred to. Simply put, now that we have discovered some of the mysteries of the Human Genome we know that we are not directly related to the Ape or Chimpanzee as they have 48 chromosomes and Humans have 46. Nowhere else in 'natural evolution' has this occurred.
There are many unanswered questions regarding our position in the Universe and it would appear than our perceived status is totally delusional based upon arrogance, stupidity in the face of conflicting evidence and pure stupidity.
I sincerely hope that we can avoid our own self-generated extinction long enough to develop to a point where we may just have something worthwhile to offer to an advanced Civilization.
At the moment we are more than likely to annihilate ourselves in the near future by any of a number of means.
We are on the brink of becoming a failed experiment!
