I did not voice any displeasure to her about this, instead, I said it would be good for her, and supported her. She is going to see a recruiter tomorrow.
All I asked of her, if she does decide to go, was to write me.
She couldn't get ahold of a recruiter today, as the recruiting office is closed today.
So it gives me some time to gauge her interest in it, I just got out of an hour long phone convo with her. So far, it seems like she has her mind made up, I brought up some of the things she should think about, and made it clear I wasn't trying to discourage her, but that they were things she should be aware of.
Her step-father is also a retired USAF officer, Dy, I'm unsure exactly what he did.
Once she makes up her mind (and I think it may already have been), there's no stopping her, so the best I can do is encourage her.
My grandfather: marines, my father: national gaurd, older brother: Army (served in Korea for 18 months a couple years ago finished his term off at Ft. Knox), older sister is in the Army reserves. I went to college but considered the Navy or Air Force prior to recieving my $ 10,000 scholarship to DeVry for taking 3rd place in a national internetworking competition. I understand some of this more than others would, but in the end, it's her call, whatever she decides I'm going to accept it and encourage her.
