of the zodiac? What are your thoughts? I know anyone can be intelligent regardless of sign but, most astrology books make us out to be the most intelligent (with gemini running a close second...ha! Sorry gems)so if we are all somewhat into astrology, then what are your thoughts? Do you believe it? Are virgos some of the most intelligent people you've ever met? I hear other signs say that about us all the time. They say they like our logic, wit, analytical skills...etc, etc.
And I'm sorry if this topic or anything remotely close to it has been posted already, but shit, couldn't post my pics for the other thread so I've decided to ask a somewhat 'conversational' question...you fellow virgoans can be so damn grouchy.

What a nice compliment. I understand what you mean when you say we 'act' intelligent. It's one thing to speak intelligently but not 'live' intelligently. We usually try to match our intelligent words to our life style .

Yes I'm with a virgo at the moment, and he amazes me often with his intelligence. He's always so vibrant in things he says and his actions, but it always has some purpose. He can easily keep up with my conversations, even if I'm not making sense to myself lol.
for me it's clear you're not acting, saying or feeling something if it hasn't any purpose to you. I think you can say you're the sign that really "lives". Analyze before you act, think before you speak.

No, typically, we're not purposeless people. LOL. Everything has to make sense. A place for everything and everything in its place...or something like that...Ha ha!
Yeah we like to think things through first before acting. spontaneous and impulsive are definitely not two words that you would generally use to describe a virgo, but then again, it still really does come down to the birth chart of the individual.

LOL it sounds wonderful, it can be challenging too. But we can complete one another, if we both want to make it work. Still figuring out his personality, but it'll need time. Patience is key, and allthough I'm the spontaneous and impulsive person here, it amazes me how easily I can step out of my piscean comfortzone, and react on him, now I understand him more and more.
Eventhough your personalities can scare me from time to time, I've learned you really are very sweet people, on different levels. I think I dig virgoans Big Grin

We're analytical (like Caps), and may be bookworms and all, valuing a good education in whatever we're passionate about...but we make stupid decisions all the f'n time, and it leads to us getting taken advantage of for a long ass time, until we learn (and, unfortunately, a lot of us never do). How smart is that? LOL.

If you are referring to "book smart", yes I think some Virgo's are very intelligent. If you are referring to having the intelligence and fortitude to understand how your (Virgo) critical nature and verbal criticisms hurt real people emotionally, then I'm not so sure you are that intelligent. With intellect comes responsibility and tact. Overall IQ is great, but knowing how to treat people with dignity and respect is more paramount imho. I have three degrees and utilize them every day in my work. But it is my compassion, empathy and work ethic that matters most to the people I help, not my IQ or degree certificates collecting dust in a basement box.
Virgos on this board are always referring to themselves has being the anointed ones; the ones who believe it's their right to preach to every other sign what they (other signs not fortunate enough to be born a Virgo) need to do to improve and be perfect in the eye of the Virgo. I don't consider that being more intelligent. The most intelligent and understanding person in my life was my mother. She was an Aries. But the majority of her intelligence stemmed from common sense and growing up in tough times during the depression. Sorry, but Virgo's don't have a monopoly on intelligence or infallibility, for that matter. Period.

Hmz for me as a Pisces it's the way you won't let us in on your emotional level easy, and we need reassurance on that level. That we have connection, the knowledge we can grow together as a couple. The not knowing is utterly scary for me, but in a relationship you can't possess anyone, you can't change the way your partner thinks, so you have to get comfortable to embrace insecurity, and go with the flow. As for virgoans we Pisceans want to know where we stand. We hate surprises and want to know what life has planned for us. With my virgo I'm still in the dark with that.
I do understand what you meant with the intelligence part. Virgoans are simple, straight, but their intelligence level lays deeper than book intelligence, or IQ. I just can't find the words to express it...darn

my eyes to the way that I hurt them with my words, I make a more conscious effort to watch what I say. We're only human and we really don't mean any harm but, I do understand what you mean about treating others with dignity and respect being paramount to anything else.
I also don't think that just because we are critical, it sort of makes us unintelligent. I just think that because being critical is just a natural part of our make-up, it's hard for us to know that we are doing something wrong, or hurting people until it is brought to our attention.

Hey mama smile
I meant that we will give of ourselves to people/causes that are not worthy of our time and patience. We will stay at dead-end jobs for YEARS (sometimes even until the last day we take breath on this earth) just because we feel like we're bound to it...even if our pay never increases, and it takes more from our lives than it gives TO our lives. I know plenty of Virgos sitting in dead-end jobs, because of the "security" and because we're COMFORTABLE with our duties, while other signs around them are advancing, and making money hand-over-fist...it's not smart of us.
We also take on partners who are down on their luck, and try to help them out...but end up making them worse, because we GIVE TOO MUCH. Of ourselves, of our time, of our money...it's horrible! They end up playing us, and you know how we do--instead of blaming them, we blame ourselves...and most likely will let the abuse continue because we'll feel like we deserve it somehow...and are COMFORTABLE with this person, so we don't want to "take the risk" of jumping ship to find a new and BETTER partner.
So here we are, this sign that's BOOKsmart, but we're not so streetsmart, and we suck at finding suitable partners.

Funny you should say that, LOL--I actually keep running into Pisces who whisk me away into this wonderful fantasyland, where we're together forever and ever...then drop me on my ass when they realize that, yes, you are going to have to be "responsible" with my heart. That word seems to scare them...responsibility...
Still trying to get over the latest Pisces guy, who I genuinely thought (and...secretely still do think...) was the one. I did what you're doing, try to find out all I could on how to make him happy...Virgo guys remind me of Pisces guys...the "pull, but don't tug", "push, but don't shove", hot/cold, disappearance acts...

As a virgo, I should toot my own horn, but I look at intelligence in so many different ways. I didn't read through this entire thread, but this is in my input. In psychology, we learn about different types of intelligence than the one we are so accustomed too. Every person possesses an intelligence that another person may not have. For example, I'll use me and another virgo (ie, my apartmentmate).
She is a music major; she knows so much about music, about performance, the performing arts, and she also very good with business and management. However, she isn't great at math or biology.
For myself, I am fairly good with science. I can pick up on things quickly and I am very organized (she isn't as organized). My intelligence is very intro/intrapersonal and social; hence why I'm a psychology major (now after changing my major from biology). I don't know the first thing about music, but I can do other kinds of art.
My other roommate, an aries, is one of the smartest people I know. She's an IT major and VERY good at one she does. She's also very good at math, could probably program with her eyes closed, and she is a good sculptor. However, my roommate doesn't connect well with things like I do. She is about to take a philosophy class and she is completely dreading it.
In the general sense, virgos could bee seen as book smart. But what helps us out is our wit, and ability to analyze, to see details, and to understand the minutae of things when no one else will. But virgos can lack in so many other areas. So, do I say we are the most intelligent? If you placed us all in a classroom together to solve a problem, maybe. But outside of that, no. We are just like everyone else and the intelligence we pick up on makes us intelligent in that specific way. We probably just prove to excel in what we do.
Everyone, though, can be more intelligent than someone else in something. Which is kind of the beauty of it.

I struggle with that often and people get mad at me when I finally get fed up and toss them to the curb without a moments' warning but, a little reciprocity never hurts. I believe that virgos can be some of the biggest enablers and we often end up in co-dependent relationships. The problem with us is that we are always looking for some goddamn fixer-upers. We always want to 'help' somebody. As I've gotten older, I've learned to become more selective of who I offer my good services to.

However, we are naive and emotionally daft often.
I would throw most intelligent sign to 1.Aquarius, 2.Gemini and 3.Leo, they rank amongst the most intelligent people I know.
Though they operate in the extremes, either extremely intelligent or not so intelligent, hardly inbetween.
Where as Virgos have a better aggregate of intelligent folk.

Actually C, I do know what responsibillity means, and I can act on it too. I'm always careful with someone's heart, if the person will do it with mine too. Give and take kinda thingie. But I also think Piscean men are different than women. I'd say throw your rod again, and kick the fins...we Pisceans and you Virgoans...we would make the world such a better place, with little gardens of Eden from us, and some you who will try to figure out, and be all practical about the plants we're growing there Tongue

I mentioned something about this somewhere else....in the summer we get high school kids to help out and i can honestly say that the kids who have fallen under the VIRGO banner always pick things up quicker and somehow are the ones who always seem to "GET IT", they understand the method to the madness....while some of the other signs are a bit slower to understand. Now im not saying the other signs are dumb or dont care, they just dont seem to have the natural intelligence that we possess. On the other hand..... Ive been a Virgo all my life but have done some really, really stupid shit, like get kicked out of high school...twice, Agree to a prison term to avoid probation and urines, etc.
So while I have been naturally smart, Ive really perfected stupidity in my past.
But from my experience, I have to agree with the astrology auteurs....VIRGOS are intelligent and can be relied on to do things right the first time with little or no supervision.
Virgos are the most intelligent but dont always demonstrate it, as in my case. Dumb motherfucker. LOL.

Very interesting. I would like to do a study of 'intelligence' with people of different astrological signs and see what the outcome would be. Yeah, we do make some stupid ass mistakes and alot of times our mouths (criticism) tends to get us in all kinds of trouble. This is me as well, 100% . Man, I will try and try and try--I will try to get over, around, through, under...and if I find I've exhausted every effort, that's it...I'm done. And when I move on? Yeah, you're nothing to me. We like to be needed, that's our problem--we feel that if someone needs us, it's our job to help them...but the truth is most people don't NEED us, they WANT us, and we trap ourselves when the other party gets lazy and acts feeble in order to have us whizzing around them, washing dirty draughs, and cleaning dirty dishes, just to make sure they're comfortable. We craaaave partners that need us, but find it hard to seperate "partners who need love and affection" from "partners that need a maid and a sex slave".
I just stopped offering my services, altogether. People have said that I've grown colder over the last few years (I kicked a LOT of people out of my life, and have not looked back since. Plus, I no longer lend money), but I smile when they say it, because I've finally learned--and you know how much we love to learn a lesson, LOL.

Oh I forgot about those aquas. Quite the intelligent lot eh? I have an aqua girlfriend and we have the most intelligent conversations. She really knows her stuff in a very otherworldly, progressive thinking type way if you get my drift. She always enlightens me but sometimes we get into these heated debates. She tells me that I am a force.
I like our wit. Despise the naivete' and right now, indifferent to what people say about our supposed 'lack of emotion'. We have them. Just choose to show them to who we want.

I can agree with this. My aqua friend is one huge asshole and pretty vulgar, but is he smart as a whip. He's trying to get into med school at the moment.
Intelligence is just too broad to pin down to one specific sect.

This is sort of breaking down intelligence in terms of skill? Passion? Funny, I've heard people say gems are smart simply because they can speak about a range of topics. Aquas because they are progressive and virgos because we have alot of what I would like to call 'inner intelligence'. The way we are always working toward purity and being the best we can be from the inside out.

Ok, so that's what I am trying to understand...why are we virgos often referred to as the most intelligent sign? Could there be a reason for that? Why do the astrologers say it? What do they know or understand that we don't? ENLIGHTEN ME!

Sorry gems)so if we are all somewhat into astrology, then what are your thoughts? Do you believe it? Are virgos some of the most intelligent people you've ever met? I hear other signs say that about us all the time. They say they like our logic, wit, analytical skills...etc, etc.
And I'm sorry if this topic or anything remotely close to it has been posted already, but shit, couldn't post my pics for the other thread so I've decided to ask a somewhat 'conversational' question...you fellow virgoans can be so damn grouchy.

This is sort of breaking down intelligence in terms of skill? Passion? Funny, I've heard people say gems are smart simply because they can speak about a range of topics. Aquas because they are progressive and virgos because we have alot of what I would like to call 'inner intelligence'. The way we are always working toward purity and being the best we can be from the inside out.


What people think of as intelligence is sort of too broad when intelligence can be broken down. It's obvious when someone lacks intelligence in something (for example, if I have a computer problem, I'm quick to throw it all on my roommate because it'll just throw me for a loop), but what we don't really consider is what we are good at individually and what we do grow skills in (imagine someone who was never that smart in school, but could fix a car without even trying or could build a patio deck better than most hired help - he probably has spatial intelligence and is very good with his hands).
If you looked at it all very generally, virgos do seem to have a wide range of intelligent people, but virgos can be so different than one another besides the shared traits, the the intelligence would no longer be that general. For example, my virgo male friend is a bit of a slacker and doesn't get things quite as well, but he's becoming very accomplished in video editing, acting, and comedy.
Like CJ said, intelligence for the virgos is broad in that we show it in different ways. Start paying attention to your friends of different signs, start noticing things that they can do that you can't really pick up on and vice versa. It'll amaze you. We are a smart bunch, but we can second guess ourselves until we don't even trust our own skills. And I think our reserved, critical nature can make us seem smart or even help us be better.

I struggle with that often and people get mad at me when I finally get fed up and toss them to the curb without a moments' warning but, a little reciprocity never hurts. I believe that virgos can be some of the biggest enablers and we often end up in co-dependent relationships. The problem with us is that we are always looking for some goddamn fixer-upers. We always want to 'help' somebody. As I've gotten older, I've learned to become more selective of who I offer my good services to.


This is me as well, 100% . Man, I will try and try and try--I will try to get over, around, through, under...and if I find I've exhausted every effort, that's it...I'm done. And when I move on? Yeah, you're nothing to me. We like to be needed, that's our problem--we feel that if someone needs us, it's our job to help them...but the truth is most people don't NEED us, they WANT us, and we trap ourselves when the other party gets lazy and acts feeble in order to have us whizzing around them, washing dirty draughs, and cleaning dirty dishes, just to make sure they're comfortable. We craaaave partners that need us, but find it hard to seperate "partners who need love and affection" from "partners that need a maid and a sex slave".
I just stopped offering my services, altogether. People have said that I've grown colder over the last few years (I kicked a LOT of people out of my life, and have not looked back since. Plus, I no longer lend money), but I smile when they say it, because I've finally learned--and you know how much we love to learn a lesson, LOL.

Funny, in terms of romantic relationships, I recently read that virgo women in general, are drawn to men who need them. I'm not saying that this is all true, but, there seems to be a common thread among most of the virgo women that I know. The book also said that we should be with men who 'want' us instead of need us because the latter can pose a ton of problems down the line.

Well then I guess that goes for people of any sign. Broad intelligence depending upon what field of expertise they operate in. I think that our reserved and critical natures can work against us depending on which virgo you are talking to. I've had so many people tell me that I am too reserved or quiet for my own good so I guess it can go both ways.

Oh definitely. It depends on how it affects you and your work. Everyone is different, or everyone's views are different. Same with intelligence. I mean, astrologers say a lot of about virgos we don't necessarily agree on. I'm not saying we AREN'T a smart bunch, but to say that we are the smartest isn't enough to say something about us individually.

We will kill ourselves with overanalyzation, and are not ristakers, which prevents us from taking advantage of bigger and better opportunities than we have in our lives.
It's really one in the same, but just with a slight twist (we are too stable-seeking, overly-critical--Pisces are too risk-taking, head-in-the-clouds...but we both overanalyze and are hard on ourselves to the point of us being our own worst enemy), which makes me all the more confused when Pisces/Virgo relationships don't work.

Right on. I have also met some people in my time (not necessarily virgos) who are quite versed in many different arenas in respect to knowledge and intelligence. Some young, some old, some white, some black etc, etc. I guess it really is about looking at the individual vs. a group of people.

Maybe Pisces/Virgo doesn't work well because we're kinda the same? In this world it will never be good anyway. If you're the same it's not right, if you're opposite it's not right either, but because we don't want to overpopulate monasteries with nuns and monks, we try to find a way to cope with eachother...or something.
