Maybe you just need to start trying some new things? Surely there's something out there you will love and enjoy if you try it!

You're a Virgo, your work should also be your hobby!
I like cycling a lot (really, a lot). Cooking and improving the book of personalized recipes is also enjoyable. Those two hobbies are actually quite addicting. I'm also an amateur movie critic seasonally (that is, I simply watch too many movies). Traveling is another one but as of now for various reasons I'm not practicing it.
I agree that there's too much relationship crap here though, mainly because it presents a story from the perspective of one and to have a verdict you need to hear it from both sides.

True but I dont like starting new things if it doesnt interest me...I feel like its a waste of time lol
Yet you have to try some new things to find out if you like them...
Alright, I've got an idea: Those of us who post on this thread, let's list some of OUR hobbies, and try to find something that piques LIMM's interest. When something does, the lucky winner of their awesome hobby can elaborate a bit on it, in an attempt to get LIMM something to do with herself. lol

My hobbies change over the years. But here are some of my hobbies.
8-16 - Majorly obsessed with video games and comic books. Became interested in writing, and started actually writing a lot of my own super hero comics myself. Also picked up a lot of drawing, and got good at drawing photo realistic female portraits.
17-26 - Was heavily obsessed with math, philosophy, science, and technology. I think I was much more focused on my work in the field of technology at this time. Actually developed a love for sci-fi, and became a collector of a lot of Sci-fi novels during this period, including Orson Card's Ender's series, Shadow series, and Isaac Asimov's Robot series.
27-32 - Was a competitive gamer. Traveled a bit in my gaming career playing street fighter. Went to big tournaments, and even attended the World tournament in Vegas. competitive Street Fighter was a big part of my life for many years. Still will go down to the arcade and play a few games, but the drive isn't there anymore.
Now - Trying to get into pool. Really don't have many other hobbies at the moment. Actually business has become more of a hobby for me, and I'm starting to feel the same drive for business as I had for academic topics when I was younger.

Hahaha...fuck work, Im ready to win the lottery and give them the old "fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, youre cool, fuck you...im out" routine lol
Those are actually some nice hobbies. Even though Im not a big cook...I would of loved a recipe book of my grandmas...I tried to get her to write things down..then Id organize it and give it to everyone in the family...sadly we didnt get a chance to do itThat would have been a good project. I sold my bike dammit, but where I live...I honestly dont wanna be out riding lol.

Hmm... sports enthusiasm. I seriously shed a tear the other day when the Braves retired Chipper Jones' number. Photography, music, cooking, art, fashion design, tinkering, learning basically anything, politics, and public advocation for some kind of cause.
Making money and sex probably top the list though.

Hey, where's my words?
I said a little blurb to go with the pics ... and they didn't post
I would actually love to do photography...but Im horrible at it lol. Like I wouldnt know which lighting and angles etc to take good pics. Seems like everyone is getting into though...like all the family pics, vintage style ...pretty neat.
Does your husband have any hobbies P?

The berries we had here close to my house have all dried out but I guess I can buy some from the local market. thanks, gonna try it.
Pick wild, if at all possible. Not sure where you are, but surely there's somewhere within non-insane driving distance to do that. When I lived in California, I could pick them up on Mt. Baldy, a good friend has a cabin there.
Here in the IL/MO region, black raspberries are everywhere. Old abandoned dirt roads are a great place to look, they are one of the first plants that comes back strong, all along the roadsides. You can walk up an old dirt road picking as you go some places.click to expand

I do workout - I am at the gym 5-6 days a week. It is a routine now. I feel like crap when I don't go.
I don't even collect anything. My mom finds that odd. She collects roosters, my sister has apples, my cousin palm trees, etc.
She once saw two small elephant figurines in my house and thought I was collecting them and then a few weeks later, bought over a few more.... I didn't have the heart to tell her that those were free at the garage sale I went at and that is why they were there.
I don't collect stuff, other than books and it isn't that I collect them, it is just that I read a lot and I like to underline, so I buy instead of using the library
.
I don't collect things, I don't knit with the group at the office that knits every Tuesday, nor do I play board games with them, I don't do gardening or when I hear cooking as a hobby, I think dirty dishes and that sounds like work.
So if you find some good ones, send them along my way. Maybe I will pick one up too. lol
and yes, dxpnet is starting to be an addiction. And the virgo in my life is starting to annoy me. And life becomes "as the virgo turns" and that cycle repeats.

I'm not good either .... look how blurry they are. But, who cares? It's about enjoying it
During spare time, which is nearly never for him ... he can be found sitting at a poker table. He doesn't have a hobby per se ... except the man loves to play cards.

Soapmaking is fun and slightly addictive. What Virgo wouldn't need a ton of soap around the house? :-P Anyway, in it's most basic form, you make a lye solution and then combine it with different oils and fats, pour it on a container and cut it the next day and then let it cure for 2-6 weeks. There's plenty of info and lye calculators and forums online to get you started and hooked.
I also make regular cosmetics: creams, lotions, shampoo and makeup. I was just planning a recipe for a AHA lotion that I might make today and I need to make a light hair conditioner as well. I have always been hooked on makeup and cosmetics, and it seems to be enough for me to be interested in cosmetic chemistry as well. It's my dream to turn that into an actual business some day.
I also like sports betting :-) I bet really, really small amounts, as it's not about the money or gambling for me. I look for certain kinds of odds or I follow a game of tennis and try to predict what happens next.
I just noticed that all of those hobbies and my other interests are based on numbers and counting :-)

Mine:
Photography. I love it. Its challenging, especially if you learn how to do it, and are NOT satisfied with the crappy pic that comes off a cell phone or point and shoot camera. I made alot of money shooting weddings and portraits, and events...until my gear got stolen...but I WILL replace it soon. Plus, I love to shoot waterfalls, nature, etc. The money is second. I love photography.
Music. I'm an 80's metalhead, and I sing, play guitar, bass, and keyboards. I've played hundreds of shows over the years. I write songs too.
Writing. I love to write. Here is my blog. http://todayinmyownwords.blogspot.com/ And there are 2 blog posts about my photography.
Cooking. I do all the cooking in my house. I love to try new things, and I have several original recipes that get rave reviews every time I make them for someone who hasn't tried them.
Event planning. I love taking an idea, planning it, promoting it, and seeing it be a huge success. I have done lots of different types of events that were my idea over the years. Every single one of them was a success.

Ah this is a refreshing thread...
Ok my hobbies are...
I started playing guitar when I was just 15, those were the MTV days that I go loco over those rock bands in tv lol! Well up to now I still play guitar and I own 3 guitars.
Reading, this has been my passion even since I learn how to read. In line with this hobby, I collect books of different genre and settings.
Jewelry design is also one of my hobby, this is probably the hobby that I am so attached since I myself is a lover of finest jewelry like my mom only that it is an expensive hobby so I always try to earn money as well in this hobby. This is the hobby that bonds me closer to my mom (cap and Virgo girl thing)
Bar~liquidSoap/detergent/dishwashing/lotion/sanitizer making is my current hobby (addition), I am earning money with this hobby cos I'm selling it and I get to use my own product as well.

Thats a huge list CP...how do you find the time to do all of that lol
Keep in mind that's about two and a half decades worth of stuff! lol I don't always do "all" of it. I'll go back to one for a while until I decide to go to another. Quite a few of them are pretty versatile too... and lend themselves to the other hobbies.
For instance, I tinker around a bit in my family's machine shop. If I want some special dies for one of my rifles (the shooting hobby), I can stand at one of the lathes and whittle it out of a chunk of steel myself, just exactly the way I want it. A set of bullet swaging dies that would cost most guys $ 1000 to buy just costs me a couple days of relaxing time at the lathe.
The common theme of most of it - creating something. I like to be doing something with my hands.. building things.. .making music... cooking.. whatever. Something that lets me make something, and see real progress as I go.
If you deal with a lot of stress and need something that will really relax you, I strongly recommend the aquarium hobby. Once you get the hang of it, it's a really fun hobby, and a source of much relaxation.click to expand

Not a thing wrong with Ibanez! They make some great stuff, so do many others. I just started with a 59 les paul jr, and that's the tone and feel I love. Spoiled rotten from the start.
Prog metal... can't be a slouch and do that. I'd love to hear some of your stuff! I'm a big fan of Dream Theater, Fates Warning, Rush, Queensryche, etc.
Posted by cowpuncher
I like the latest stuff, but I love the early stuff. By "first two albums" are you referring to the hard to find original album, before Images and Words... or Images and Words, and Awake?
imho Awake was by far their best.
Good luck with the recording! I'm currently trying to knock about 10 years of bad rust off of my playing (long story). Humility is being unable to play songs YOU wrote. Just trust me. lol So what kind of recording rig are you guys going to use? Just in case I'm ever worth a damn again, I picked up a Presonus Firepod, and I'm going to wipe a couple of my computers and put Ubuntu Studio on them for home recording.
I haven't heard the new Queensryche, i'll check it out tomorrow, thanks! Mindcrime was amazing... some of the best metal songwriting ever done. Brilliant.

Alright LIMM, you've got several lists of hobbies. Did you think we were going to let you skate and not pick?
You don't have to pick one for all time just yet... but whittle it down to a list at least. Pick 3 you'd like to try and list them :p
Virgomerlot - Maybe we should just make a thread on the Music board and talk gear, recording, guitar stuff, and so forth? Might as well open it up so others who are interested might jump in. TMV plays guitar, and a few more of us. Might be good to just have a thread there where we can talk shop.

Most of the metal stuff is just that 'simple'. Not much at all going on there but simple double stop chords. Hey atleast you learned something.
What makes a guitar player valuable is being able to play with others. 2nd and 3rd and harmony + being able to play bass.
You can learn faster in Open G tunning and play over 75% of Rolling Stones stuff (initiative here to learn). Also OG is another gateway at learning 2 things at one time. Learn the guitar version and then you can also play a banjo and tune it, beside that OG is the main tunning for Slide guitar also. I'm not saying this because i'm a total Keith Richard lover but it offers a lot in one go. Chuck Berry stuff becomes a lot easier to play in open g also for beginners (his rhythm).
As far as the neck goes just go into a music store and try out different guitars until you find something you like. I would not say grab an Ibanez to learn on. You need a neck with some concave radious to learn chords on also. You want be happy as a begginer with a flat radious neck at all because short fingered starters want be able to ring the chords out right.

Guitar player? You might want to check out this thread, a couple of us are talking guitars and gearhttp://www.dxpnet.com/opinion/music/the-zodiac-and-guitars-4093209.asp#4098378
So what kind of music do you play, and what kind of guitars do you prefer? I'm a blues/classic rock guy, but as a young'un it was all about Hair metal.Confirmed vintage Gibson snob here, but I'm not too proud to play a Strat either.

@ LIMM
I know how it feels when having hard time learning guitar, i started on songs with easy chords like songs that falls on D, E, A, G, the first song that I actually played on guitar was leaving on a jet plane (Armageddon movie lmao!) I would usually ask for some help on my friends if they can arrange the song to lower keys instead of having it on sharps #, b flat, minors etc... You can also use capo if you think that will help![]()
I find it cool if a girl knows how to play guitar![]()

Oh, and LIMM:
You have just under 90 minutes left to make that list of 3 possibilities... or else!
