Okay first question, what's a chart.
Go to cafeastrology or similar and put in your time of birth, date and so on, and it will spew forth a chart for you. Showing all your positions, planets, etc. It will explain them as well. 🙂
Or if you pm me your birthplace, birth time, birthday and year, first name optional then I can do the work and send you the link to your personalized page.
But to answer your question, a birth natal chart represents what constellations the major planets were lined up with at the time of your birth. Each planet represents a varying aspect of your life whether it's the method you convey your thoughts and speech to one another, your sex drive, your tendencies, aspirations, etc.
