I recently moved into in a house share with 3 others, yesterday I was told that one guys girlfriend is moving in for a few months. note - told, there was no house meeting bout this. Also the rent will not be split 5 ways but my rent will go down by a measly ?25. Am I right to think that if a whole fifth person moves in they should pay the same as everyone else? just coz she is sharing a bed with her bloke, doen't mean she should pay a quarter what I'm payng. means more people using the bathroom, kitchen and a couple taking over the house. you know how inconsiderate couples can be... I never wanted to live with a couple and I moved in thinking it was with 3 not 4!!!! I am peeeeed off!
Totally unrelated topic but I want your opinion

I can certainly understand this irritation .. I would be too. A lot of people do it according to bedrooms and I, too, think that's unfair. It should be per person, except small children.
Is your name on the lease? Have you tried talking to the other flatmate about this? How does he/she feel? Well, somebody must have discussed it, since it was decided that the monthly amount would decrease by 25 pounds/euro's (whatever) ..
What I would think would be the worse part about this isn't even the money, rather, dealing with a couple, like you said. Couples argue .. that's normal. And when they do, you will be stuck in the same space as them if they drag it into a common area of the house.
