my virgo son...light of my life...came 'home' to spain from the uk where he's living and training to be a professional footballer (soccer). when he's in the uk, he goes to the gym 4 days a week, trains with his academy 5 6 days a week and has matches for his team at the weekends. he absolutely LOVES it and is highly motivated. he also has a waiting job at an argentinian steakhouse in england. he wanted some cash for more independence and so he walked right in there and asked in fluent spanish if they were hiring....he was hired on the spot.
to say he makes me proud is a mahoooosive understatement Big Grin
anyhow. i picked him up from the airport on tuesday. took him straight to a part in his honour at his best friend's house and i've not seen him since....well, only for 5 minutes when he was at the beach playing bat and ball with his friends with girls giggling all over them. he was lobster red from sunburn and kept telling me he felt guilty about not seeing me but i'm just happy to have him in the same country.
so. today i am seeing him. the reason is that he got into a fight and has fractured his knuckle on some guy's head and now i have to take him to hospital for an x-ray!
my son never does anything with half measures. are you virgos generally like that? i recall my brother was definitely the same and unfortunately, he wanted to be a physicist (which he now is) and so his exploits were always very explosive lol.
do you follow your passion when it comes to career?
The one Virguy I know seems at a bit of loss when it comes to his career. I know he wants to work in something creative if he can and preferably doing something humble but grand, like non-profit, but I think he is realizing it might be difficult to find such a job in the place where we live.
Now another Virgirl I know is indeed very passionate. She is studying to be a lawyer and is incredibly gung-ho about it. The girl studies for hours on end in one of the most difficult fields in my country and yet she manages to find time to socialize and keep up with friends.
That's the one thing I've always admired about Virgos. They manage their time so wonderfully and pack so much in one day...
my boyfriend's a virgo.
his ringtone is actually that song, "work hard, play hard, work hard, play hard, work work work etc." I dunno who it's by. goes off at least four times a day. but it's funny cause I immediately thought about it when seeing this thread so I thought I'd share. but he likes it cause he thinks it's his "motto."
virgos do work very hard toward their career and in all aspects of life. you're very fortunate to have a son so determined and dedicated to his passions. he will be that way forever, and that's a good thing! my grandmother (another virgo, I have many) has worked for over 72 years and isn't shy to remind people of it, lol. she is the epitome of virgo to me. to this day she continues to lead a very active and successful social life style . she's also a holocaust survivor, and takes great pride in being able to share her story to the world, and just recently came back from a memorial ceremony in europe. (she also loves that you can google her name and see her online lol!) she honestly lives a more driven life than most people my own age...!
she's 89.

that's interesting as both my parents are holocaust survivors and my dad's a virgo too. they are the opposite though in that they have cut themselves off from the rest of the world...currently living on a remote island off the coast of scotland...and they will never talk about the stuff that happened. they were both very young children then and are still in their 70s and so a younger generation to your grandmother i guess. they were affected on a much deeper emotional level cos they were 7 and 5 when liberated by the allies.
LiB: yeah, it's the greatest feeling. makes me wonder sometimes what it must feel like to be ashamed of your kid...the flip side...that must hurt.
Of course we work hard but play harder Big Grin your son reminds me a lot of myself when I was around his age. When we are kids we need lots of different distractions to keep our little curious Virgo minds occupied, besides we are as competitive as Aries, its just that we dont go around trying to sell it too, but we do NEED goals to work towards. Back in primary/highschool I was always busy either studying a lot or training volleyball, from age 9 till 16 it was normal for me to train till really late (sometimes till midnight) right after school, that discipline and dedication really helped at such young age, I won many championships and became even national champion in junior category. I dont even know where I found the energy to be so dedicated with both sport and school at the same time, I was always one of the best in my class too. When we get into the flow of a certain routine that we love...we are unstoppable Big Grin

that's interesting. she was 17 at the time. she has very strongly detached herself from displaying the emotion behind the events of her childhood, although they make up her foundation. she will recall losing her family openly, somberly, yet she hides the expression quite well. deep down there is a pool of emotional turmoil; almost... resentment. loneliness. I think sharing helps her find reason; find self duty in upholding the memory.
shaka: his dad is an aries and i agree they are uber competitive but with virgos, they tend to be less put off when something goes wrong, like an injury for example. i find rams very quick to jump on the negative thought train whereas virgo seems more adaptable and tenacious.
just got in from 6 hours in urgencias for my son's hand. they had to manipulate his knuckle back into position. when they said they were gonna do it, i went green and they told me i should leave, lol. my poor boy. they wrenched his finger back and forth 3 times with little anaesthetic and when i saw him after, he was still in agony Sad
10 minutes later, we were both on some spare wheelchairs we found, pretending to be in the paralympics, lol.
doubtroub: i can totally identify with your grandmother wanting to uphold the memory and the comfort that gives her. i still can't get my head around what our people went through. i only don't like the memory being upheld if its in 'victim' mode which is how non-jews portray the holocaust cos really, it was a failed attempt at quashing the most powerful race on the planet and its failure gave us even more power than before. the united nations very generously created the state of israel which allowed them to form one of the best armed forces in the world. no-one fucks with jews/israel any more. that's what we take with us from the holocaust...not memories of our loved ones being gassed like cattle...they were our martyrs and each and every one will always be remembered.

alright smarty pants.
Oh yes, I am a Virgo and 28 years old, my vision was to do anything relating to computer since the age of 13, I was cracking open computer and pulling them apart. So I joined the air force and refuse to go in unless I got a job dealing with computers I was in for 8 years, I was retired for a heart condition at 27, (probably from stress, worry, and pushing myself to hard) and I am now the lead Network infrastructure technician at the Air Force Base by my house and I make a good chunk of change. It wasnt until I hit 24 and had my son that I stopped playing so much though, but even with this great job and being a single mother with a heart conditon, I still am working towards a masters in computer science - I guess I just feel like you are never good enough, but that is something that Virgos have embedded in there brains they are very critical of themselves and are always trying to do better than they are already doing.

I love that song and it's by Whiz Khalifa who is a Virgo.
Leave it to virgo women to shift the focus of the thread to a totally irrelevant detail Tongue
