what you wanted to be when you grew up?
and did you get there (subject to whether you have grown up or not - which is not an ageist remark either my earthy friends, cos i know that many of you never do Winking).
No even though im young i never knew i just move with the wind
Nope! Not in the SLIGHTEST!
My best bud is a Virgo as well and we we're exactly the same way. Slacker extraordinares. Sharp and more than smart enough but just didn't put into it at that age (I actually think this is a side effect of the late bloomer thing a lot of Virgo's have)
I agree 100% . My taurus brother calls himself the slacker. I said no, that's my job. As King said, I often follow the wind. smile
Rox.... you are back... how the hell are you.?
I never become what I wanted to be, my life shaped after the political situations and still shaping, what you may call it ( a very interesting life style ).
Its even harder now that economy is bad and i have no job urggggg my virgo sun cap moon is going crazy bc im broke
Jason, sounds like English may be your forte and nursing the safe back up plan? The thing about Virgos as many are talented in artistic ways...we always have a back up plan for the solid stream of $ $ .
I have a degree in Finance and Real Estate, have a career in sales, but I write feature articles on the net about skin care/makeup, love music, paint, draw and collecting art in most mediums.
When it comes to me however, I just seem to wander the path. I remember as a kid wanting to be an attorney, but when the time came to start law school...I just turned and walked away. I have never felt defined by what I have a degree in or what my career is... much like Qbone... life is molding me.
King what are your skills? What do you like to do? smile
No I never knew... wanted to be a nurse as a child till I realized I hate and fear doctors, blood, needles and medicine. English, art, and academics were then my aptitudes... I had a variety of majors and minors in college... jack of all trades, master of none. Ended up with an advanced degree in a field I don't even like.
Because I could type I got a job as a typesetter and discovered my true love. Typesetting as a profession doesn't exist anymore, it morphed into graphics and prepress production and then when print became a thing of the past, web production and now, content production and tools development... still loving it. Grateful every day of my life that I found the work I love. Jobs may come and go, I will always to do my work. People need it, whether they can pay or not. I am a very, very, very lucky person. Very few people get to do the work they love, let alone get paid for it.
Whatever else happens in life, this means I am fulfilled.

hi Q!! i'm very well thank you, despite being jobless and a little on the down and out side Sad
my virgo brother who is older than me always wanted to be an astronaut when he was a kid. he was obsessed with making rockets and very often set things on fire with his experiments. he was also always coming home from school with a blackened face from where he had mixed explosive chemicals in the chemistry lab. he is now a high school principal with a phd in physics.
my virgo son (13) wants to be a footballer and that's all he wants to be - tunnel vision.
and yet, other virgos i know just seem to drift through life without purpose.
athena: i remember the good old days of typsetting. one of the most interesting days i had was when i worked with a printing company based in the UK and i visited their security plant which printed paper money and bonds and stuff!!! i could have watched them engraving on those rollers all day! i should imagine it's all done differently now though.
Good to hear from you Rox. I Was kind of worry about you.. you know what..!
Nevertheless.. happy to see you around..!
"always wanted to be an astronaut"
my Virgo sister too.
every now and then she mentions that in positive or negative context.
"my virgo son (13) wants to be a footballer and that's all he wants to be - tunnel vision"
now you need to collect info on all famous men who wanted to be footballer but could not and they became something else which made them successful, rich or famous.
your plan B for him.
Just in case he is not good in football or for some reasons he cannot continue the course.
Hey Ro, my Virgo husband always wanted to be a soldier ... he said he couldn't wait until he was old enough to join the military when he got older. Every once in a while, he'll mention it, so I know that his life-long dream stayed with him over the years.
DOM: my son is a very talented player fortunately but as i said to him, there are no guarantees in life and he could get an injury (god forbid) that would prevent him being a footballer. a plan B is essential and avoids disappointments.
Q: thanks for caring smile
P: aren't you kind of glad he didn't go into the military? in some senses, it's good that he still has the dream though without it being tarnished with the real experience don't you think? hi, btw. hope you're well smile
I have also had many ideas, but my ability to adapt has allowed me to gather various skills in various disciplines.
So no, I was never sure.
A real Virgo would never "follow their heart" in choosing a vocation. The fuck @ that? When I grow up, I wanna be a butcher, a baker, a candlestick maker....
When I was in HS, they gave us these tests that supposedly helped guide our future endeavors. Mine said I would excell at being a Swiss watch repairman! Only problem was, the advent of the LED and Quartz movements had just begun! Sort of inline with being a buggy whip manufacturer in the age of the Model-T.
We always go with what is right at the moment, whether to our detriment or not. The whimsy of doing what makes us "feel good" is not only distant, but also revolting at the same time.
Still, I really appreciate the intracacy of a RADO wristwatch....
