if i were to write a poem for you
it would be completely unusual
it would not rhyme
it would not be haunted with emotion
or soaked with the sap of sweet love
i have written a million of those
and they are unrequited
they are wanting for innocence
and they are things that are temporal
they are like a bouquet of fragrant roses
beautiful, but days numbered
no
a poem for you...
would be words sent off on their own
to fall off an edge as it is discovered
they would tell of happiness
cherished memories
forever being relived and reloved
fear sung and laughed over
they would fail
over
and over
again
in their attempt
loving every moment
and in these magical instances
life is born in secret
songs spun of gold
travelling by a strong spirit's will
and the breeze that cools us
while we're sighing contentedly at dusk
setting with the sun
knowing not wishing
words for you are resigned to their scroll
with their star in the morning
they promise to rise,
and to awake
to light the path they endeavor to make
this much is created in words
in the wake of defining you
