A friend of mine has a brother in prison in another part of Europe, he had this published in a newsletter. He has given permission to post it......
Sitting here in this place
Mind wandering, searching for your face
Unable to, just catching a trace
Of your eyes, nose, lips your grace
I put you first, or so I thought
Oft you told me that I ought
To think of you before the brew
Deep inside I really knew
That the drink came before you
Life and times causing stress
Causes drinking to excess
Hiding from my many fears
Had me drinking many beers
Only when I'd drank enough
Did the world seem not as tough
On awaking from a session
You'd think I would have learnt my lesson
Nothing changes when you're drinking
I had to be put away to adjust my thinking
If I had listened to your pleas
Took more notice of this creeping disease
Losing your love and respect through social excess
Drinking alcohol and causing you distress
Doing wrong in the eyes of the law
This is something you foresaw
Locked up now for misdeeds I've done
Maybe I'll learn to leave the drink alone
I've lost you I know it's true
There's no going back for you
You've found your freedom from me
That's the way you want it now to be
Sitting here in this place
Mind wandering, searching for your face
Maybe one day I can redeem myself
Find true love again,if not with you
Someone else.
damn.

He's done a long time but out soon.....and I agree ^^^^. He has a good network of friends/family to support him when home. Hopefully after the reflection he shows in his poem he'll find his path and find happiness, we all deserve a second in my opinion!
Oh and westside and Pandemonium, yep I thought like that too and why I posted it, it just makes you think/feel if you know what I mean
I will pass that on to him I think he would like that
