cancer-leo cusp -- Help

There is a guy in my life who is a cancer-leo cusp, with virgo ascendant.
birthday is july 23 (leo dominant).
He is so complex and struggles so much between his highs and lows, that I have taken interest
in trying to help him balance out but he can be rude and mean and doesnt seem to own up to his wrongs.
I feel that of all the people who know him i care most and i spend a lot of time
wishing i could do more. He has such sad troubles in relationships.
I know I have a lot of insight to his life but its possible his leo temper has hurt me
many times even though Im the one who cares the most. (im scorp 2, gemini ascendant)
does anyone have any experience with this type??
