At the movies he was in his shell. He didn't want to make a move and get rejected . He wanted you to initiate something to let him know it was OK lol like a green light .
The MIA thing you know I can't stand that lol to me there's no excuse but when he dropped to L bomb he probably does love you he just has trust issues in a previous relationship or even in his childhood something happened to him that made his back off from people. He seems like he likes attention which is why he flirts with other chicks & whatnot. He also seems insecure which can be another reason.
As for him lashing out at you he was a jerk for that but I see he probably has that typical "ima blame you for what I did " attitude you called him out on his actions and he has no other way to deal. Seems like he has that "I'm gonna hurt you before you hurt me " attitude. He is playing games like he does love you but since he feels he can't trust you he won't get to close.
Sounds like he's the one that can't be trusted tho.
