Mars is the planetary ruler of Aries, as well as the traditional planetary ruler of Scorpio. As much as the Aries side of Mars prefers to be straightforward and get where it's going quickly, the workings and effects of Mars in the human body and psyche can be very complex and multi-faceted. This is perhaps more of the Scorpio side of Mars, which may become more pronounced under Mars retrograde. Scorpio Mars seeks to transform and heal a problem by "lancing the boil," digging under the surface, and getting rid of the hidden toxins.
Mortality is of two kinds -- natural, arising from disease or old age; and accidental/violent, arising from a variety of causes.
A natural death may be judged to ensue when there are no other signs in the horoscope to the contrary.
A violent or accidental death occurs when the Sun and Moon are afflicted by a malefic, and when no assistance is given by Jupiter or Venus.
Again, when the sun is afflicted by one malefic, and the Moon by another, or when the Moon alone is afflicted by more than one malefic, or the Sun alone by more than one, providing always that no assistance be given by Jupiter or Venus, then a violent death ensues.
The afflicting planets being in the violent signs - Aries, Scorpio, Capricorn - is an additional sign of violence; also if the Sun or Moon be in these signs.
The following aspects occuring in a horoscope give a warning of a violent death:-
1. Mars afflicting Sun and Moon by conjunction or aspect, or afflicting one of the luminaries only, and elevated above it.
2. The Sun or Moon afflicted by the malefics in the first, fourth, sixth, eight, or tenth house.
3. A malefic in the first or eight, or on the cusp of the seventh, if at ther same time afflicting the luminaires, or one of them.
4. Malefics opposing one another from angles, particularly from violent signs or cardinal signs.
5. Both the Sun and Moon afflicted by one or more of the malefics, if one of the luminaries and one of the afflicting planets be in a violent sign.
6. Both luminaries luminaries afflicted by a malefic, one of the luminaries being oriental.
7. Two malefics attacking the same luminary
8. Pluto and Neptune must both be considered as malefic planets if they are afflicted by adverse aspects, especially of the Sun, Moon, Mars or Saturn. If Pluto is in the 8th, this will give indication of death occuring through ebign involved in some public catastrophe connected with the work that is being carried out, such as explosion, building collapse (Many 9/11 victims had this), or if in one of the National Services (military, civil servant..etc) through such things as mines, torpedoes, submarine crash. If in private life through such catastrophes as mine disasters, underground subway crashes, train collidings, etc. Neptune in the eight will bring a danger of drowning, of poison or of death through wrong drugs being taken or administered or of overdose of an anaesthetic or narcotic, or even alcohol.
If, with these indications, you find Jupiter or Venus in trine or sextile to the afflicted, then danger is averted by strange interventions, or hairbreadth escapes will be made.
When the afflicting planets are to human signs - Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Aquarius - dthe death will be by human means.
The eight and fourth houses have chief signifaction in the matter, and the planets in them, together with their aspects, will indicate the nature of the death. Violent planets, such as Uranus and Mars, or Saturn and Neptune, when in violent signs, are testimonies of an untimely end.
When Neptune is the afflicting planet, he causes deaths by ambush and treachery, by drowning and by strange spiritual causes. There is danger of trance or simulated death, which must be carefully watched.
With Uranus as the cause of evil, death results in some extraordinary and remarkable manner. It inclines to suicide, especially if Mercury be found weak and badly afflicted, or Venus afflicted by Saturn or Uranus, and the luminaries also afflicted.
Saturn causes death by crushes, fractures, falls, drownings etc, according to its sign and house.
Mars causes death by burns, cuts, loss of blood, scalds, ruptures, frenzy, and in battle. The exact nature is usually judged by the sign occupied by Mars, but the house occupied by Saturn and Uranus must also be considered, in addiction to the signs they are in.
The planet Mars has special signification of the cause of death according to the sign it occupies, whether human, animal, airy, fiery, earthy, etc. Observe always whether the malefics afflicting the Sun or Moon are elevated above the luminary or the reverse; for when you find the malefic so afflicting, and in elevation above the luminary, it is a sure sign of a violent death.
The lord of the eight house being afflicted by malefic planets is an additional sign of a violent death.
DO NOT JUDGE A VIOLENT DEATH WILL HAPPEN, UNLESS THE POSITIONS ARE VERY STRIKING AND UNMISTAKABLE.
When death is judged to ensue from "natural" causes, the sixth and eight houses are taken into consideration, together with the signs in which the malefics may be placed.
Fixed signs show death by blood (Aquarius), disorder of the throat (Taurus), heart affections (Leo), and the reproductive organs (Scorpio).
Mutable signs show colds and affections of the lungs (Gemini), bowels (Virgo), and nervous system (Sagittarius and Pisces)
Cardinal signs denote death by affections of the head, brain, fever etc. (Aries), stomach (Cancer), the kidneys, liver, gall bladder etc (Libra), also erysipelas and disorders of the skin (Capricorn)
If Saturn be in the eight house, the death will be slow and tedious; Mars there, it will be quick and painful; Uranus, sudden and unexpected; Jupiter, in comfort and order; Venus, peaceful and without any pang or throe of pain. The Moon and Mercury are passive, and act according to the nature of the planet in nearest aspect; but the Moon has a signification of death in the public, or in the presence of strangers, in public hospitals and other places of a public nature, when other testimonies point that way. Neptune in the eight operates to produce trance, coma, and simulated death, endinc in syncope.
EXAMPLE:-
Adolf Hitler provides the perfect example of one who through his own stupidity met a violent end. Throwing away the opportunity of living and dying as one of the world's greatest characters in history, he came to a violent end in the ruins of Berlin. His Libra rising, with venus, his ruling planet in the sign Taurus in conjunction with Mars, both within the eight house. His Sun was also in Taurus and in the eight house. Venus and Mars were square to Saturn which was in Leo and elevated in his chart, showing a rise to power, and a tremendous fall from power.
Mars retrograde acts like Venus, and Venus retrograde acts like Mars.
A retrograde planet behaves like its second domicile sign in planetary rulerships. For example, Mars retrograde behaves like Scorpio, since Mars traditionally rules both Aries and Scorpio (modern astrology left Mars ruling only Aries, and sees Scorpio as having only a status of a co-ruler, because Pluto was given rulership of Scorpio). Few authors use this example in reverse for modern planets where, for instance, a retrograde Pluto is not Scorpio-like anymore, but behaves like Aries.Unfortunately, the concept of primary and secondary planetary rulerships is a relatively recent construct of modern astrology. Traditional astrology did not make a differentiation (the five planets did have one day house and one night house, but they were not regarded as “first” and “second”, nor was this division equivalent to the above-mentioned modern one). However, we might see Saturn direct acting in a strict Capricornian nature, while acting more rebellious in an Aquarian way when in retrograde, or that the suppressed Scorpio traits fit more to retrograde Mars than those of bold Aries, but for the other planets it is a stretch. Our approach to retrogrades would be safer when we limit it to the simple rule that retrogrades act in more inward way, which as a simplified rule works quite well. Making an artificial choice of which domicile ruled by the planet is more inward, is not needed.
A retrograde planet rules a different sign. For instance, it rules the sign of its natural fall (i.e. Cancer for Mars), or by being debilitated in the signs it is naturally exalted in or ruling it. This approach is typical for some streams of jyotiṣa astrology.
Retrograde+Fall=Exalted
Retrograde+Exalted=Fall
Retrograde+Domicile=Detriment
Retrograde+Detriment=Domicile
I Have Retrograde Planets 3 of the them are in debilitated Signs.
The effects of retrogression are explained by Kalidasa in Uttarakalamrita (Chapter 1, Section2, Verse 6)
a) The effects of a retrograde planet are similar to that of a planet in exaltation,
b) If a planet is conjoined with a retrograde planet, then that planet gets “one-half of a rupa” as its strength (Rupa is measure of a planet’s strength)
c) A planet retrograde while in exaltation is equal to a debilitated planet.
d) A planet retrograde while in debilitation is equal to an exalted planet
e) A planet in conjunction with an exalted planet gets “one-half of a rupa”as its strength
f) A planet in conjunction with a debilitated planet gets “zero-benefits”
g) (i) A planet in conjunction with a malefic which also happens to be its friend gets “one half of a rupa.
