I couldn't think of a better title to be honest, but I'm speaking more specifically of the Major Arcana (Waite-Smith Deck). Has anyone else ever researched the cards and how they correspond to the astrological signs and their planetary rulers? Here's a list of them:
The Fool - Uranus (Modern thought, Experimentation, New ideas)
The Magician - Mercury (Relation, Connection, Understanding, Enlivening)
The High Priestess - Moon (Sensitivity, Moods, Intuition, Subconscious thought)
The Empress - Venus (Beauty, Love, Art, Music, Poetry, Pleasure, Refinement)
The Emperor - Aries (Active, Demanding, Determined, Effective, Ambitious)
The Hierophant - Taurus (Security, Subtle strength, Appreciation, Instruction, Patience)
The Lovers - Gemini (Communication, Indecision, Inquisitive, Intelligent, Changeable)
The Chariot - Cancer (Emotion, Diplomatic, Intensity, Impulsive, Selective)
Strength - Leo (Ruling, Warmth, Generosity, Faithful, Initiative)
The Hermit - Virgo (Analyzing, Practical, Reflective, Observation, Thoughtful)
The Wheel of Fortune - Jupiter (Enthusiasm, Hope, Good fortune, Expansion, Receptivity)
Justice - Libra (Balance, Justice, Truth, Beauty, Perfection)
The Hanged Man - Neptune (Illusion, Imagination, Idealism, Psychic, Distortion)
Death - Scorpio (Transient, Self-Willed, Purposeful, Unyielding)
Temperance - Sagittarius (Philosophical, Motion, Experimentation, Optimism)
The Devil - Capricorn (Determination, Dominance, Persevering, Practical, Willful)
The Tower - Mars (Facilitation, Intensity, Courage, Energy, Assertion)
The Star - Aquarius (Knowledge, Humanitarian, Serious, Insightful, Duplicitous)
The Moon - Pisces (Fluctuation, Depth, Imagination, Reactive, Indecisive)
The Sun - Sun (Focus, Energy, Vitality, Creativity, Will, Identity)
Judgement - Pluto (Perspective, Enlightenment, Improvement, Experience)
The World - Saturn (Concentration, Discipline, Accomplishment, Depth, Patience)
Oh and if anyone wants to know the story of the Fool's Journey, what the cards look like and how all the cards fall into place; here's a link:
http://www.shalinimusic.com/2011/07/07/the-fools-journey-tarot-card-story/

FYI: The Minor Arcana matches up with the elements: Wands-Fire; Cups-Water; Swords-Air; Pentacles-Earth.
From what I remember my birthday card was either the Tower or Death.

I don't think I ever tried to do my birthday card. Do you know where I can get one done specifically? However, I do like the fact that my card for the ruling planet (Moon) is The High Priestess. I always liked the symbolism shown in it. smile The Chariot card for Cancer was a lil confusing for me cause I didn't think it connect with the sign, but then I found a forum talking bout how it actually does relate.
"The chariot is armored--the charioteer often even has a canopy overhead, and so he takes his house with him, like the crab--like Cancerians. And like Cancerians, the Chariot is all about being armored and protected. Note also that Waite goes with Sphinxes instead of horses--Armored Cancers are often hard to know. Get past the armor and they're pretty easy, but if you're on the outside, they can be very Sphinx-like. The fact that we're moody and unpredictable makes us even more Sphinx-like.Cancer is a cardinal sign--meaning, Cancerians (like Capricorns, Aries and Libras) start stuff and are motivators, stimulators, generators---though, alas, we don't always finish the stuff we start The chariot is very much a motivator. It leads the way into battle or leads the parade after victory is won--even if still and not moving, it is an inspiration, a motivator. The wheels imply motion--
Waite referred to the Chariot as "conquest on all planes"--very important, because the essence of the crab is it's ability to move from one plane to another, from land to water and back again. Cancer folk tend to do that as well--incredibly "spiritual" on the one hand, we also like our creature comforts. We're very pragmatic, but also wildly emotional. One plane to the next, water to land and back again. This also reflects the duality of the "horses"--each wanting to go its own way. Believe me, Cancers are often are in a quandary over what to focus on and, in such cases, we go nowhere. Which is, after all, one of the important messages of the chariot--that a lack of focus will keep the querent either immobile, or going first in one direction, then in another, to no purpose. Of course, if the Cancerian finds a focus, fixates on a particular goal, then he/she can either remain stubbornly still--or get those opposing horses to speed unstoppably ahead.."
I got the Moon and the Hermit.
The Moon and The Hermit share extreme qualities ??? low and high, vague and precise, yearning and ambitious, obscure and clear, far and near, many voices and one voice, fluid and solid.
For both, the journey's the thing. For both, the heights are the objective. For both, illumination is the essence, while darkness is the matrix. One faces the darkness of the untraveled path ahead, while the other faces the darkness of the heights beyond reach. The light available to each leaves their darkness intact.
The Moon is the uncertainty at the heart of things, the unrealized and phantom possibility, the power of mutation and transformation. Shape-shifting unconsciousness and identity offer multiple realities that reflect inner rather than outer landscapes. The job of The Moon is to evolve, to move forward by inhabiting ever more subtle and elaborate forms, to experience challenge, growth and renewal with each new version of itself.
The Hermit is the finished, final clarity that shines at the center of things, the distillation of knowledge gained through effort, persistence, intelligence, and courage. Perfect faith and endless labor are rewarded by being lit from within. He becomes a steady, continuous, living light, a beacon to those who seek the outermost boundaries of personal growth. For those on the upward journey, the way is lit by those who have gone before.
Unintegrated and imperfectly realized, The Moon can be filled with nameless terrors and subject to depression. It may not trust what it sees or what it hears, and it is prone to believing the worst. It can be gulled into believing fantastic claims and stories, and may be drawn onto false paths with little or no reward at their end. It is subject to nightmares, and may come to fear sleep.
The Hermit can be ambitious, and lose sight of or never see how perfectly he can serve a higher power, or how pure he can become himself. He can be immersed in detail, careful of every step on the way to serving his own interests. He may be so practical and down-to-earth, that mysterious and unlikely paths are rejected out of hand. He can become so absorbed in making his own way that he has little time or patience for anyone else, and thus becomes isolated and emotionally barren.
Together, they travel from the depths to the heights, exploring the shadows and precipices that wait for every traveller on the path to knowledge. They promise faithfully that the great journey
Id really enjoy a tarot card reading. Havent had one in 2 years
I just did the birthday version of finding your tarot cards. Is it suppose to be only two? Because I got The Sun, Wheel of Fortune and The Magician.

Birthday i am the tower and the chariot.
Some gay psychic told me i was the hierophant but he was a sham.
By hebraic numerology my name amounts to the scepter. It's apparently out of deck. I'll make a post on it when he mails the answer key.

Is your Sun Sign in Taurus by any chance? That may be why he said that you were The Hierophant. Also, is the deck you're referring to with the Judaic numerology the Aleister Crowley Thoth Deck? I just started studying it.
I think I'm 4 of Cups when I do it by my sun sign decan.
Posted by thescepter
Pm me if u do find info on it. Maybe judaic. He just said out of deck. He teaches a crowley course but im not that interested in tarot.

Referring to your previous post: Some readers of divination do ask for your name and/or birthday tho, but you're right, there are alot of scammers. The Crowley Deck is definitely a different take on things. The imagery gets a lil abrasive, but I enjoy it. I'm trying to find another deck that's called the Dark Goddess Tarot. smile
I'll let you know if I find anything tho on decks that have a Judaic alphabetical/numerical spin on Tarot. It's something I'm very much interested as well as other things of the Occult. But, I'm not into taking courses. I'm more of a solitary woman that learns on my own. Winking
Temperance
Temperance is a card about balance, in many ways, and relationships of all kinds. Friendships, family, romantic partnerships, and work partnerships all need your attention. This is also a card about alchemy or mixing and matching. You may have to try several approaches to things before you find what is truly right for you.

The Hierophant
The Hierophant is very much about "doing the right thing." You may be struggling with an issue and are unsure about what is "right" for you to do. Know that the answers are within you. Remember that the "right" thing is what is right for you also.

Third Decan Virgo
A white woman and deaf, or an old man leaning on a staff; the signification of this is to shew weakness, infirmity, loss of members, destruction of trees, and depopulation of lands.

I knew he was a sham coz he had a crush on me and wud feed my mind with bs. The 2nd time i went in for a reading he hugged me ewww. :/ i never came back.
I found a real one. Old european lady. Works out of a nice cafe. She is beloved by her customers. But iv been pulling for myself and i get amazing results.
I like crowley. Itsa masculine deck.

Lol! I'm sorry you had to get a reading from someone with a lack of professionalism and an ulterior motive. I've had my share of 'bad' tarot readings; the person not knowing I do readings myself. I don't do tarot readings on myself that much;sometimes, I do it on a full moon to see how the cards will guide me for the month ahead...until the next full moon.
The ones that I found to be 'real' are actually practitioners of Santeria. I don't know if you've heard of that religion before.
Crowley is quite a masculine deck now that you mentioned it; although, I do like that they changed the 'pages' to 'princesses'. I also like that there's a title for the suit cards. My favorite visually for the major arcana are The Aeon, The Fool, The Tower and The Moon.
Where did you find the Decan information from? @ TMV
I'm a Third Decan Cancer.
I remember someone linking The Tarot School calculator on here a while ago. Death/The Emperor was what I got. Scorpio/Aries astro terms.

I got the Star and Strength. Pretty neat!
Posted by thescepter
i have the star inked on me. but just the imagery without the borders that make it look like a card. crowley deck.

That's pretty cool. Is it in color?
I want the High Priestess (Waite-Smith deck) tatted on me but just in black&white; I don't need the color and if I did; I would have her with a darker complexion. I might get Bastet on me as well(Egyptian cat goddess) to match my Egyptian astrology sign.

Well, now I feel dumb. Lol! I went there already and just looked at the card (4 of Cups aka Pleasure) I have; not the description. Smh!
Cancer III- A man; a Hunter with his lance and horne, bringing out dogs for to hunt; the signification of this is the contention of men, the pursuing of those who fly, the hunting and possessing of things by arms and brawlings.
The Sun, The Wheel and The Magician share a concern with and expression of the importance of time and change. The Sun adds its roundness and constant periodicity to the circularity and endless revolutions of The Wheel. In this, they share the femininity of cycles and dependable repetition. The Sun adds the linear directness and the overwhelming power of its rays to the perfect focus and unbending intent of The Magician. In this, they share the masculinity of limitless energy and unwavering certainty.
The Sun reveals the shape and nature of everything, and fills whatever it touches with confidence and energy.
The Wheel experiences and accepts everything, and is excited by whatever happens to it.
The Magician manipulates everything with skill and intention, awakening and enlivening whatever he pays attention to.
The Sun is clear, steady, bright and simple. It dispels fear and doubt with its presence, lending energy and optimism to the task at hand. Its rising is the source of all optimism and brings with it the joy of awakening and continued existence. It is the certainty at the center of things, the clear awareness of what is and is not. The motto of The Sun is "I am." The job of The Sun is to be the engine that turns all the wheels of the world.
The Wheel is restless, driven to move ceaselessly from place to place, from drama to drama. At once actor and audience, it is simultaneously involved and detached. At the mercy of what it cannot foresee or prevent, it alternates between exhilaration and lassitude, high spirits and depression, good and bad fortune. Aware of the patterns and repetitions that link seemingly random events, it is unimpressed by them and is capable of patience. The motto of The Wheel is "Wheeee!" The job of The Wheel is to enjoy, both the intensity of the unpredictable moment and the serenity of grand and dependable cycles.
The Magician makes things appear and disappear like rabbits out of a hat. With focused awareness and skill, he opens up possibilities and closes them. Graceful, eloquent and logical, he charms the willing and persuades the unwilling. Armed with unbending intent, he approaches obstacles with serene confidence and faith in his powers. His motto is "I will," and he discounts the possibility of failure. The job of The Magician is to make intention into reality, no matter how unlikely or improbable, and in the process, to amaze all who watch him do it.

been studying this stuff lately. thanks for the info. smile
the online calculator gave me the temperance and hierophant cards.
during my own readings the cards i most often pull when regarding myself are the empress and the high priestess.

I'm glad I started this post; that way I can see how many people are actually into Tarot on here. Winking
Quick question: When you first started do readings on yourself; did you ever feel or become ill? When I first started; whether it was doing lunar readings on myself or doing general 3-card readings on other people, I would get sick with different symptoms each time (fever, migraine, nausea). I don't anymore tho.
The High Priestess card comes up for me alot too, but so does the suit of cups. Idk if that has to do with my sign tho.
I got The Devil/The lovers.
The Chariot (Cancer) and the Tower (Mars)
Posted by Synapse

Mine was The Tower and The Chariot. I know fuck all what that means.

We appear to be Tarot twins.

when i first started a few years back i didn't feel ill, just got negative vibes. i was terrified, and stopped doing readings when the death or devil cards came up repeatedly. i didn't know what they fully meant then.
just recently i made my own deck and got a tarot book so now i'm understanding each card. it's been a very enlightening process.
the suit of cups represents emotional matters and the water signs, wands = air, pentacles/coins = earth, swords = fire. so it makes sense you often pull those cards.

Lol! I did mention them but it's totally fine. It shows you're on top of your game. My mother taught me a long time not to be afraid of those particular cards; I was usually afraid of the whole suit of swords (especially 9 & 10). I think it's great that you created your own deck. I wish I had that creativity.
Posted by exoskeleton
^kinda cool you got those cards together as the devil card is sort of a mockery of the lovers card. smile

I read the descriptions but am still confused by it, they are mirror images basically. I got into astrology & tarot years ago but very much a novice.

^^^ I'm only on the first page and I'm already feeling the 'Sacred India' and 'Rumi' decks. Thanks, Exo! Winking
I broke out my deck today- haven't done a reading in a lonnnnngggg time.
See how this goes. smile
Are you still on here?
I took "Page of Swords" today. And one site says it is corresponding to Mars in the 3rd house.

Now look! Mars is in Gemini since yesterday energizing my Sun by opposition. And the Rising already since Thursday.

Plus: communication has been my main concern since Thursday. also no stop in sight.
