Our friend is debating that since two careers are in different fields, it MAY NOT work. Personally I do not think having different careers could/should be a big problem. It can be managed! His argument is since both people will love their careers so much that the one that will have to compromise will get upset in the long run. My theory is any ways ladies take career breaks for family and kids and once after the kids are born it changes every thing for every one mostly for women. So it will not be a problem.
Hey, its funny you asked this because I have a thread concerning the something simliar to this. Like will I have to give up my career ambitions in order to find happiness with a man.
I was advised that I should make sure that my partner (whoever that may be) understands my schedule and vice versa.
Maybe if the two of you understand each others schedules then you'll be fine. It sounds like this friend is trying to cause trouble ... but for what reason?

SG-
Ya- it should not be a concern. In fact diversity of career may mean growth.

Ya- Seems to me he needs some one to "convince" him that he is not doing any thing wrong!
He is looking/seeking for approvals from us rather than him self.! It's funny.

I've never dated an Aquarius, a Taurus, a Gemini, a Leo, a Libra,or a Sagg.
I think a Sag and I would maim each other, because the Sags in my family and I hardly ever get along.
I had great fun with the Virgo, Scorp, and Pisces but they were all a little too...emotionally retarded (I dont mind emotional people just try to keep it somewhere close to sanely emotional). I guess as I get older if I had a chance I might try a Scorp again, but I'd probably avoid virgos and pisces.
The Aries and Cap were booooring. I wasn't with them long but they are still sure and steady friends.
The Cancer is gorgeous, he's so different from anyone I've ever been with. He's my first Cancer and I'm enjoying him very much so far. I thought the Scorp and I had a lot in common, but the Cancer is quickly changing my mind.

I know what you mean .. my Mercury is in Aries, also. Tremendous amount of internal chatter that rarely settles .. without aid.
Have no clue what "Katas" is .. but, try meditating with a Prehnite crystal. It's a Feng Shui Stone of unconditional love that heals the healer. Reiki Masters don't leave home without it.
When meditating with this crystal, it puts you in touch with the universal energy grid (it's connected to the Archangel Raphael and to spiritual and extraterrestrial beings). It has many metaphysical uses such as sealing the auric field in a protective sheild, is useful for gridding the environment, it teaches how to be in harmony with nature and the elemental forces, it revitalizes and renews your surroundings.
Mainly, for you (and me with M-I-A), it's extremely beneficial for "decluttering" .. it will aid you in releasing all clutter .. beit material, mental or emotional .. it will stop the chatter in your brain and allow you to shift into a meditative state.
