Yes, I believe you can love more than one person at a time. People tend to try to instill guilt in others when you are called a cheater. This world is a big complex world and all people don't share the same view of love as others perceive it. It is a very complex feeling to love more than one person at a time, however it is possible. One person can provide a different type of love that another cannot provide to you.
For instance, I don't believe in an emotional cheater. I agree with physical cheating to a certain extent but emotional cheating is just something I don't agree with. Yes, I want to have love before sex but if the person you are physical with is lacking affection, then it is ok if someone else is providing you with emotional support. I don't believe it is wrong to find emotional support in others and if it leads to love than you can love more than one person.
Answer-Yes you can love more than one person at a time. It is human nature and NO it does not have to be mom and dad.

I haven't allowed myself to go further (I'm not dating) and I'm just a bit surprised how much I can feel for more than one man.
I'm so glad that you are honest enough to come out with it. Many will not or if they do feel for one then one person, they don't usually act with logic. Its hard to find all you need and want in one exact person. When you do, its amazing! Most men and women settle for less then what they really want in a partner.
I think its healthy to have feelings for more then one person BUT BUT BUT, its important not to act on them. You should examine your feelings and the motives behind the emotions.

Sweet I know how frustrating it can be when someone says they'll be with you but doesnt act like it, I think I am quite guilty of that myself, which is why my cancer went all psycho on me and said I played too many mind games.
For me, if I was in the situation you were in, I'd give it some time to think my next move to make sure what you say next will not scare cancer away. Yeah, cancers ARE such drama queens, man or woman. lol.
Oh and menbay, love is SO blind.. I would never stay with someone if he or she stole from me, UNACCEPTABLE. I have been avoiding cancer for a couple of days now, the wound is still actually pretty fresh, their words can cut you like no other! OUCH.
