I don't think the intent is to equate the Crabs as being money grubbers. The main interest in that for Cancer females is so there is peace of mind for their primary concern: a stable family.

Dependence seems to be the number one reason in here .. there's all this baggage and it's difficult to carry alone, so if another person comes along to which to attach .. then s/he (usually she) begins to unload the heaviness of the emotional baggage on the other, depending on them to carry it for them. Once that burden becomes too heavy, then they move onto another (now with more wieght), until one day, they just settle, rather than actually love, with the person who will carry this burden for them = attachment complete .. until death parts them, or a hot young secretary.
