The physics of friction would affect some women.

I have a few thoughts on the 6th of jan:
I'm pretty far on the left. That said, I thought that the news calling it an attempted coup was a little..extra. If that was an attempted coup, it was the worst ever attempt. A coup insinuates a level of planning and execution that this just didn't have. I think it was more of a mob and mob mentality, with a few real, literal insurgents mixed in.
I also think that when viewed through a class lens, something like this was going to come sooner or later. The left has poo-poo'd blue collar, working class people for a long time now. One need look no further than Homer or Hank Hill or Archie Bunker. It was not always this way, going further back, blue collar work was respected. It no longer is, and along this vein, too many liberals from the city talk about "fly over states." People live there. People have homes and families there. That sort of dismissive mindset is really ugly.
So when viewed through a class lens, the frustration boiled over and it makes sense through a CLASS lens.
However,
When viewed through a political and economic lens, its also really troubling for what something like this portents: american fascism. I think the 6th demonstrated that this nation is probably closer to fascism than its ever been. I'm sure one could make arguments with that, but that is the way I see it. Between evangelicals, conservatives, the alt-right and ordinary people with misplaced anger..throw in another actually smart demagogue and we might be in some real trouble.
Being a student of International Studies, the uprising on the 6th would seem to fit the general definition of a coup. The competence of the perpetrators doesn't negate nor erase the aims and goals of the perpetrators. It only takes 3% (If I can recall correctly) of a population to overthrow a standing regime. A few is all you really need.
I can agree with the majority of your analysis on how our society has come to value the working class (specifically blue collar work) however I am always wary of class analyses that don't explicitly cite how racism intersects and deepens class division as the two are deeply integrated and dependent on each other in Western style d societies and economies.
Also, I must offer push back on the notion that the left looks down on blue collar workers anything close to universally.
When I consideri that the progressive left is pro-union, pro-community and largely some degree of anti-elitist, it becomes a very hard bridge to sell that the coalition of views that we classify as left leaning is against labor.
If anything, I think a more accurate statement about the left is that its leadership is not left enough and is in fact too closely aligned to a deeply unpopular (and outnumbered) right wing, that is animated by corporate donors and other moneyed special interests...in that way corporately owned leftists are not too different from many "pro-business at the expense of justice" right wingers.
As for the rise of fascism, we are in agreement, the situation is critical if not terminal there.click to expand
I likely am being too blase about whether the event on the sixth was a coup or not. I oppose that particular group no matter the label.
I should also make a distinction that in my post when I mentioned the left. By that I meant liberals and neo-liberals. Both are right wing from my perspective, but I think the mix-up in labeling highlights the fact that politics in the US continues to move right, bit by bit. So when I say the *left* practices a form of classism against blue collar workers and the working class, I mean liberals and neo-liberals.
I also very much agree that race and class; they are very much intertwined.
I think we are in agreement, just using different terminology.

There is a big part of me that really wonders what would be the headlines regarding prosecutions and body counts if it had been an NAACP or BLM organized march to storm any federal building, let alone THE Capitol on any given day.
