Posted by SoloOhh yeah. So here it's called UI (unemployment insurance) and I did qualify for it but I can't get paid out for that if I'm not ready to go back to work. I have to be able to return to work in order to get paid... which IMO is crazy.Posted by SnowBunny726Posted by xkachi
That sounds really frustrating, I'm sorry to hear that!
I'm guessing you've maxed your vacation and sick days.
Do you guys have EI?
What's EI?
I got paid out my PTO from my job that fired me but that's it. I'm just unemployed and trying to stay afloat.

Posted by DMVSo my symptoms didn't actually start showing up severely enough for me to notice until after I got fired. But with that being said, I'm technically disabled since I have a VP shunt that was surgically inserted into my head to stop me from risking having seizures. I depend on it to be able to function normally. Having had brain cancer, the tumor put pressure on my skull and my CSF wouldn't drain properly which added to the pressure and caused me to have seizures as a baby. I was put on an IEP and the special ed program throughout elementary and middle school. I got off of that program in high school only because my IQ had improved up to the standard for kids my age at the time.
Sorry about your employment situation.
Did your employer know that you were sick when they let you go?
I hat does VP shunt bloackage mean?
I remember getting fired from a job once and it still sat with me. Been over 15 years
Posted by SoloYes. Because what the fuck am I supposed to do for income now? I qualified for these benefits but now that I literally just had emergency neurosurgery, I can't go back to work so oh, now I'm not eligible to get paid my unemployment benefits. The last employer I had prior to this most recent one did know I was sick when they let me go. I didn't have the money to see a doctor at the time so they fired me for attendance issues.click to expand
