You can blame the lack of control around here. Everything used to be fine and dandy until you had the same 2-3 usual suspects power tripping and realizing that they could do whatever the hell they wanted because nothing would happen. The same group of people continued their bullshit and the sane people just said fuck it and left. This is what happens when there are no ramifications for bad behavior.
When I had the issues that I had that made me leave- I informed Duncan. It's like hey, you have a problem with some users here not respecting privacy. Even though the issue was out of DXP "jurisdiction" it's still a head's up because it's been known that a lot of people around here are fucking strange and do strange shit. Absolutely nothing was done, especially since one in particular contributes to a shit ton of the problems around here.
You essentially have bullies running the site and the admin does nothing. It's a lot like how schools work- just hope the bullied either deal with it or leave. It's too much of a hassle to get to the root of the problem.
In turn, you get a lot of negative vibes. People don't enjoy themselves and you have these insane asshats proclaiming themselves "king" of DXP and act as if they have some sort of power. That being popular on an internet forum means shit in life. Now the drama is rolling full time because this is how these nut jobs get off. And nothing is done. They apparently have it in with Duncan as well, since they seem to know what's going on behind the scenes.
So you essentially have a corrupt forum, as strange as it sounds. I think the bullshit is just beginning to peak, hence all the ridiculous crap lately.
It's what happens when you let a lot of delusional dipshits have their way.

I just got registered on this site, after reading couple of threads, found it quite intersting and nice place to dwell. Anyway I found this using google search and currently I am just reading and writing around.
Those 100 user questions have got a good hold of me, seriously.. I thoght who the hell is gonna fill that thing up? but when I started on them... I just am unable to hold myself back nice idea and overall nice place to hangout.

I also had a male friend who was born on April 20th.

We are no longer in contact, I do miss him though.

There's times where I wish I could jump in those threads to express my opinion. Then I weigh up the options of the people I'd be backing and the people I'd be insulting. Then there's a chance of gaining support from a group which I don't want and also the backlash of another group which I also don't want. So I end up doing a whole lot of NOT posting lol.
Why can't people just take DXP for what it is! Though in saying that forums isn't new to me and I do participate in others and there are very vicious forums out there. I relate DXP to more of a mental thing. We use it as an escape when it's good. Isn't that the whole idea of how individuals come together to form a community, when things were pleasant and fun until it fosters into society and this is when conflicts happen, people branch off, form groups and forever cycle that goes on
But I hear ya Mr D. I remember AOL chatrooms, except for us it was MSN chatrooms and I'd hang out on IRC as down time just to communicate with the diverse group you mentioned. It's amazing if no drama is instigated but once it does it seems to leave the sense of bitterness in everyone which I don't understand.
