I'm unclear how any term can be boxed to a specific meaning, when considering that everyone has their own perspective of what it means.
The argument that "commitment" has a specific meaning, only holds that meaning to THAT person's POV .... how can it be applied across the board. That is akin to suggesting that only one person's interpretation is accurate, and all others are wrong.

Whether people want to except this or not, human beings have evolved to monagamity--yes evolved. Other animals have monogamous relationships as well so its not *unheard* of in the animal or indeed the avian kingdoms. Poly is a lower evolved form of being human.
