I mean, I can see an attempt to interject humor just to lighten the mood a bit (a positive thing), but you should still be able to cover some meaningful ground.
I do know that when I am serious-- no joking, no nothing-- that usually means your input doesn't matter, anymore.
So don't take it to heart that she's trying to lighten things up-- if you don't like what she's doing, tell her honestly, and quit tolerating it.
