Everybody is going to have a slightly different opinion about skin tone depending on what region of th4e USA you're from. If you're from a small southern town, then light skin vs dark skin mean something to you. You probably would play into the intracies of red bone vs yellow bone.
A red bone would be someone who has more native American or Indian features.
A yellow bone would have more European features.
But most black Americans, regardless of skin tone, have European features. The term is pretty obsolete.
The real thing is that very light skin women use to be called yellow or "high yellow".
To be honest with you, the basis of the terms makes no sense. At the end of the day people are going to be what they self indentify as
I dated a Sag who was very light skinned, but she called herself a red bone. So really, who gives a shit. People call themselves whatever they want to
