Their desperate need to control every situation really puts me off, despite the nice sedative effect I initially get. Also their dislike of appearing to make too much of an effort in case they appear vulnerable. Also off putting.
The chicks are nice, great to hang out with and very open with me, though they only seem to perk up when it suits them and then go back to ignoring when they are not in benefit.

i agree. Even when my relatives stay over, we don't have any set rules either. but omg, i can tell ya stories of those who have rules when you stay at their homes. not the simple rules like etiquette and stuff like that. I mean major rules, as if you are in the Army rules. Wake up 6am sharp. eat at 7am sharp (must make time in between for shower and dressing up) Must watch movie with the rest of the family at 8pm sharp, after dinner. Must put away dishes a certain way. yes a certain way. Stacked containers on the right side and if there's one on the left, there will be war. O_O

*Of course, if you live on a farm and you have to take care of animals for food and your career/living, you do have to have major rules. You really have to get up and feed the animals, milk the cows, shovel the hay, spray water over the ground, clean the stalls, pick up the milk cannisters, ect. Those kind are understandable because thats work and the animals need you to watch over them and you have to make a living too if that's your choice of work. Even being in the military,they have plenty of rules.
I guess more or less being super anal when it comes to putting away stuff and it has to be a certain way. So that way it doesn't look missing when everything is in place. Very rigid.

oh not in our families. Lol
they all keep a very nice home, but they aren't anal to the point of you can't relax.
One of my husband's pals bought a new home for example, and because it's very wasteful to pay two mortgages, (his house isn't even built yet.) so he and his lady had a choice to move into either their parents, his or hers. Her parents had a set regiment. To be up at a certain hour, and they have to eat together everyday, and do this everyday. He said...ohhhhh heelllll nooo. Lol. So they moved into his parents where his parents are "freer"....they dont have to eat with them all the time, and they can do whatever they want (they're both adults for goodness sakes) and watch their own tv in another room. Her parents dont like that. Everyone should be together if they are there. So i guess there's no freedom in his eyes. These are just examples of control.
