Once we become alert about something, we start asking: "Have I noticed this before? How often? In what context? Will I see it again? What are the chances it is significant? etc" We take more notice of it.

It was awhile back and so my memory doesn't serve well enough to quote but that's the general understanding I came away with. As we move through life and our journey we come to a stage of growth, self reflection if you will, and that is the beginning of your awakening. During this time many things in life that were important become much less so. A beautiful house, A nice car etc. etc. We start to question the true meaning of life. It was about this time that I started to notice these kinds of things.
