First thing you need to do if you plan on being with a Virgo is .... be real.
to say "any" opinion would include those you don't want to hear ... and we all know that most people don't appreciate what they don't want to hear.
And a Virgo might take notice of such a broad sweeping statement and make an instant analysis about YOUR integrity.

I dated a guy with Sun, venus and mars in virgo And I'm a scorpio too with libra venus.
My ex was shy when it came to opening up to a girl. So you should invite him to hang out more and flirt with him a bit more.

If they are lonely and are in need of conversation, human contact/interaction, then a resounding 'yes.' It sounds like you are easy to talk to, and seeing as you were up late when he was up late, it's very convenient. I say this because I can relate. Sometimes, when it's late, I can't sleep. When I can't sleep when everyone else can, and I'm experiencing negative emotions or having negative thoughts, it all just seems much worse in the dead of night. The fact that I'm lying still in bed means there's no outside distraction, and that just magnifies everything going through me. A feeling of deep loneliness sets in and I sometimes drown it out with music through my headphones, or I have the strong desire and need to talk to someone, even if they are a stranger to me.

It really doesn't take me a long time to commit but as you stated, I like to feel like I have my freedom still. That doesn't mean I'm going to go cheat or even that I want to play the field. It just means...let me go chase butterflies (like Damnata said ) I will come back and love you harder for allowing me that freedom. "Chase butterflies" could just mean let me have a day to myself where you don't call or text...etc. That may sound harsh to some clingy types who can't understand the need or want to do things alone but it's very important for my sanity, especially with Mars in Sag.
People who allow our freedom, we in turn start to respect their feelings even more and try to be more accommodating to the fact that they feel left out when we're off chasing butterflies...so we'll stop doing it as much.

i don't understand the clingy person hate. i like clingy people. i find i work best with someone who will cling to me because i'm always one foot out the door. i of course say this with the understanding that there are different levels of clingy. someone who tries to control me will be immediately boot kicked out of my life. if you're just wanting to be up my ass all the time and are fine with me doing whatever you can come along all you'd like.
