I think it's greed more than arrogance. And the greed of the rich has a much further reach. The fact of the matter is that the vast majority of us are powerless to effect the machinations of greed at the top level. Our government which in theory answers to "we the people" is really corrupted by the millions it takes to run a campaign to make it to the stage. And how many times have politicians betrayed their promises. Remember when Obummer ran the first time and promised transparency? Well, he's used executive privilege even more than his lousy predecessor and let's not even talk about the NSA scandal. I think we take on the rich man's burden or "arrogance" toward mother earth and they are passing the buck back to us. Well you elected so and so (who we really own). See the problem here? There's a class war going on and it's only one sided: them against us. Bottom line. I'm not responsible for their greed or the degradation of the planet. And neither are you.
