I can't stand cheapness in a guy. I don't need gifts all the time or expensive dinners or any of that, but when the time comes that we are out together if he acts at all weird about getting the tab, it's all over for me. I don't know, I'm so attracted to gentlemanly behavior and so repulsed by anything less that it would be an instant deal-breaker for me. And yes, I do attempt to pay when it isn't clear who asked who, but it never ends up happening (unless I insist as an anniversary gift or whatever). I dated one guy forever ago for maybe a couple weeks or something (he was a Pisces...) who got weird about paying ON OUR FIRST DATE...and I was pretty much disgusted with him because of it. lol. Thanks little sparrow, you know I have tried through out the years to figure this out with him. He has been thoroughly resistent and has wanted to pin the responsibility on me. Maybe he's stinging a bit from the realization himself. I am going to try counseling next month.

I completely understand. They make you feel naked, emotionally. And they watch you with a little smile, as you expose yourself (emotionally), and soak it all up, and then they sit there in silence for a while, and very guardedly reveal like five seconds worth of intimate details about themselves, and leave you hungry for more. Every time. I think it's just going to take a lot of time spent with him. Try to spend as much time talking to him in a relaxed environment as you can. Not in a public place, maybe somewhere quiet and secluded with dim lighting so everything is very non-pressured.
