it's a profession just like sales, marketing, IT, admin...all areas can be slammed for one thing or another. i switched professions because i got tired of the politics behind HR. it became more about CYA than actually helping and assisting EE's. I have a PHR, but that's just a title that basically says I know the employment laws, just like an IT person would have a MCP or whatever other certs they can hold.
