I stand out like a sore thumb.
When it's that time where I feel like it's not gonna work out, it's easily shown in my actions and even my face. I can't hide that I'm unhappy with a person (even while in front of that person) easily. You'll feel it you could say. I tend to distance myself first, have time to myself and analyze my thoughts and feelings, ask friends/family for advice, and let time sort out my issues.
I usually bring up the issues to my SO before it gets really bad. I tell them what it is I feel, what I'm concerned about and such, prior to distancing myself. I allow time to dictate my feelings, and when I know it's done, I end it. However, if I notice fluctuating feelings, I keep it going because emotions are so unpredictable. But it really depends on so many factors.
Anyway, to answer OP's post, I usually bring these issues to the forefront and stay as transparent as I can be. I just don't dump them like that though first.

I actually found and rescued a baby kitten this weekend! She wouldn't be alive now if I didn't hear her little meows. Had to trudge through tall grass and weeds with a flashlight to find her, but she is safe and happy now. Calling her Luna as she was found on the night of the Lunar Eclipse!

The only thing I really saved was a tiny mouse that was trapped in a sink at work. It's eyes was shut, heart was pounding, and was on the brink of death so I got a rag, picked it up, and let it go in the grass. I might have made it, but was guaranteed a slow death trapped in that sink.
