It means that hope has died.. No matter what you know or what you preach, everyone is going to have their own ideas.. There is no changing that.. and really isn't that what life on earth is all about.. Having your own ideas and beliefs? .. How could anyone expect a positive change when we all have our own way of doing things. We will never all be on the same page.. So focusing on ourselves and becoming the best version of that is the only hope left.. In my eyes. Soul and I are very alike, but he still has a glimpse of hope for the world that I already let die.
We're looking for a solution to racism though.. not a solution to bettering ourselves.

It's good in theory but there's a flaw in this.
If we can't change ourselves then that means we will raise our children along our way of thinking and therefore nothing will change.
It's not a theory though, it's common sense. All society starts with the children. Are they learning peace? No. People want to turn them into little hateful defensive savages as they pull the baggage of their parents behind them.

Ignorance is the source of these issues.
People need to use the internet for more than Facebook and porn and use it to actually research these issues for better understanding.
Instead, they lean on mainstream media, biased news outlets, and victimizing assholes for their information- all of which aren't all that helpful for the main problem.
