Something I find curious in all this .. the responsers seem to be focused on whether to go, or not to go .. whereas, my mind slants in a completely different angle ..

From my experience of relating with friends, "catching up" is something that happens less often than just several days .. most people who are just friends go a longer period of time, and second since the two men are best friends, I would think that the Scorp would be privy to the happenings as a couple from the Aqua, and to have a desire to "catch up" would suggest more of a personal setting .. BBQ ISN'T a personal setting .. so, what exactly needs to be caught up on that's happened in just several days?
This leads me to what I REALLY find curious .. for the average person, or couple, when an event has been planned, it is not only normal, also, appropriate and respectful for the BOYFRIEND himself be the inviter of this girlfriend to an event. If I sat back and looked at this from my own reasoning .. I would likely be not only ANGRY, but, also looking at my boyfriend from a different light if he attended a function without my knowledge, when I myself will be there and he is my boyfriend. For this would suggest to me that he wanted to make me jealous, rather than be WITH me.
If the Scorp is having a gathering and his best friend, Aqua is going, and you are the Aqua's girlfriend .. shouldn't the Aqua be asking you to go?
If it were me, instead of questioning whether or not I should attend wouldn't even be my focus .. my concern would be on WHY didn't my boyfriend ask me? Does he not want me to go? And, if I did go without his knowledge, what kind of an effect would that have on his continual respect for me?
