Sometimes out in a group situation, a chick is yapping away..everyone around her maybe in awe..but that one person who is not amused (ME). Why? For situations like this, I've come to the conclusion that it is more productive and enlightening not to dwell on the artifice, but rather look on it as open theater - so you can engage and as a foil, or even cynic, without becoming an insulting boor
