I am adopted from birth, I am a Taurus Sun and Venus and Cancer Mooner, and have always been closer to my mom who is a Pisces sun, Virgo Moon and Aries Venus.
When I was really young I was also really close with my dad but that changed as I grew up and he is a Sag Sun, Moon Aries and Venus Libra.
My dad is very old school, though, and therefore subscribes to the whole "fathers are for financial support, mothers emotional, developmental, and everything else" mantra.
I have recently been in touch with my birth mother, who is a Virgo Sun, Moon Aries and Venus Leo. So far she seems really sweet and I am starting to understand a lot more about my own personality through her, as I have a lot in common with her as well as my half sister (also a Virgo) and it is really cool to know my personal background now. While I share a lot of traits with my real family (the ones who raised me) I am amused at how validating it is knowing my actual background and why I have certain tastes in food and even personality quirks that I share with my birth family.
It took me a long time to respond, like, years, because I was dealing with a lot of stuff so I wasn't really emotionally prepared (it didn't bother me but I felt more like my parents and my brother were more freaked out by it), and I even tried to find a way to find her on facebook first or something and that took a long, long time. Then I did, and it took me months before I tried to contact her on messenger but they went into the message request folder a lot of people don't notice, so I waited a bit, then contacted her daughter and was like hey, this is your half sister and I have tried contacting birth mom and have not had a response and I don't want to impede if this is bad timing or if I should let it go, let me know, and if you want to know anything about your half sister, feel free to chat me up.
She was like "Are you kidding? She's been trying to contact you for years!" so she called her mom up and apparently she was really happy and excited and she finally was able to talk with me.click to expand

Well my father and I aren't on speaking terms, it's been about 5 years I'd say. He's a Gemini Sun, Aries Moon, Cancer Venus.
I have always been closer to my mother...Virgo/Libra cusp (9/21), Leo Moon, Scorpio Venus.
My stepdad's a Cancer Sun, Sagittarius Moon, Gemini Venus and I get along better with him than my mom (she tries to guilt trip me all the time and my Sag ways don't like it!). I'm saying it's probably our Sag moons.
And the parental figure I was the closest to was my paternal grandma. She was a Gemini Sun, Aries Moon, Cancer Venus.
Weird I JUST realized my grandma and father are the same combo, well sun/moon/venus. I wonder if the female/male aspect is why I reaponded better to my grandma...hmm, interesting.
