immediate lethal repercussion.

What I don't like/care for.

How easily we're divided for shit in the grand scheme of things don't matter. We all in the same damn boat.

The FDA making allowances her they wouldn't in another country.

I'm from NY. In the suburbs.

What are the FDA allowing there?

Pros : Probably is the country with the most natural beauty in the world. There's really good people in certain pockets of the country. You can make good money and aren't stuck in your circumstances like in poorer countries.

Cons: The country has attacked and has been responsible for the murder of countless people in other countries. It's usually for corporate profitability and greed rather than any noble claim. Much of the country is ignorant. Half of them are signing up to vote for the incompetent buffoon Trump again. There's still an unspoken racist class system. Tons of overweight. Entitled white people. Corrupt 2 party system that funnels all the wealth and power to a very few at the top. Outdated gun laws from a time the country was an unpopulated, frontier nation. Disgusting wealth inequality and power dynamic. Tons of drugs. Despair amongst the marginalized and the huge homeless population. 25% of the world's prison population.

Growing up in California was awsome. Spoiled by the weather. Parents came from another country and accomplished so much . Self made Capricorn had his own construction company able to

Purchase a home in a safe area to

Raise their children. In Mexico this would not occur. Now his children are professionals and doing well for themselves but it would not have occurred without them venturing to America. I like California because it’s a melting pot. I would hate to live in another state where they are closed minded racist. I feel at home in California despite having changed so much and not for the better. But I won’t be one to move. I can afford to live here so I will remain here.

The cons vastly outweigh the pros if you have any amount of exposure to the outside world
Hates: capitalism, gun violence, poor education system, unhealthy food/life style , religious fanaticism and idolatry, flip flopping on human rights, lack of every day technology to make life easier and more safe/pleasant. Also to add to an insufficient education system, is a corrupt education system - where else in the world are entire generations completely financially fucked over for decades for going to college? Corrupt government in general - politicians don’t want a better life for the people here.
Likes: my salary, easy access to home ownership, opportunities for financial independence/building credit - just earning potential in general, good food
Just wanna add that low cost of living is not a benefit or perk when the low cost of living is a symptom of the area. Who cares if your town has low cost of living if it’s unsafe, everything’s dirty, the food is disgusting, hard drugs are rampant, violent crime, gun violence, robbery, rape, and murder happening where you are every day. It’s not fucking worth it. I would much rather pay a lot more for nice weather, beautiful landscape aesthetics, and a safe, clean community (Australia)
Lived all over the US but I’m in Ohio right now
Doesn’t sound too good
Are you still planning to move to Oz?

Yep it’s going to take awhile. Australia is the hardest country to immigrate to geographically and legally with pets. Entry to Aus for 2 large dogs will cost me over $ 10k. Visa $ 5k+. Moving some things I can’t leave behind + flight another $ 10k. Selling house, pay realtor 6% of total value. Then there’s chipping away at as much student loans beforehand since AUD is a lot weaker than USD. Selling all my belongings I won’t take, probably will break about even. Lots of money coming in and going out, it’s not simple and fast. Very complicated, long, expensive process.

Texas, best state in the Union. The thing I like about this state is that it's not California.
Things I don't like? The Republican state government, that's going to change soon. 😊

Have you been to California?

Yep, it's a beautiful state nature-wise and a human toilet in other parts.

Okay as long as you're not hating for no reason lmao. I haven't been but I know there's gotta be good parts and bad. The bad parts sound fucking AWFUL if its as bad as talked about. It makes me wonder what can be done to fix it and if it's even actually fixable. Bc some people literally just wanna live that way. Others are having issues and need genuine help.

California is what happens when you let unchecked liberalism AND capitalism run amok. And this is coming from a guy left of center politically. My state has the other kind of problem: unchecked conservatism leaning on fascism.

Ted Cruz is going first, then you'll see some good change in Texas.

I much prefer California to Texas. I hate even stepping foot in that state and I was born there. It’s almost as bad as Arkansas. You can keep it, and all the people there. Here there is so much diversity that’s celebrated and not discrimated against.

California has so much farming that I can get fresh food and not have to pay an arm and a leg. Plus the cultural cuisines around here are fantastic. There’s so much to do here, low humidity, beautiful terrain, and for the most part wide acceptance of other cultures. Northern California is the best place ive lived so far. Way more progressive than the South.

Texas lol. For the people extoling the virtues of Texas, it ranks 41st in education. In fact, there's only one Democratic leaning state in the bottom 25 - Hawaii at 26. Texas is an embarrassment for the most part. Their wealth, for the most part, is derived from big oil money killing the planet. The most incompetent, damage causing politicians have come from Texas. W is a war criminal that by Nuremberg standards would be hung. Ted Cruz is our worst Senator. Most of their govenors are terrible. Rick Perry and the current moron lol. I deal with a lot of wealthy Texans. They're nice but super ignorant white power advocates. One of our only hopes as a society is that enough people move to Texas so that it turns Texas into a Democratic state. The Democrats aren't much better but they're better than a bunch of dupes voting for entrenched ultra wealthy that don't give a fuck about them or any of us.

Realistically I like it but hate the major issues with it such as healthcare basically being tied to employment, public education is all over the place depending on where you live, homelessness is left alone when there's a lot of space/condemned spots that could be used to improve things if that's actually needed, fix minimum wage, there's a lot..

People are always tired of voting for the "lesser of two evils," but then as a whole we don't try to vote in people that have their interests at heart or are on the overall scale - working us towards that. I'm not sure almost any decisions politically are actually made thinking about the vast majority of us because they can't relate or actually don't care or a combo of both.

I literally have a loaded 45 on my nightstand. I actually love that. I live in Oregon, Southern very close to the California border. I grew up in Southern California though & still miss it!!

Likes: it’s gorgeous, the nature is just amazing. Hiking, waterfalls, Crater Lake. Was a good place to raise kids.

Dislikes: Too far from the beach, too cold in the winter, smoke from wildfires. Good jobs are hard to find, it’s too far from the city & things you can do there. It’s too white, people are mostly hicks or hippies. I don’t really fit in.. ( still a Socal girl) It’s either ultra conservative or progressive, wealthy or poor.. where did the middle go? Politics and status. I miss suburbia and the beach šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Would love to go back but it’s too expensive and my kids are here. So at the moment it’s not happening.

Well, just to mention, maybe I do like where I live because there's some really rough parts to Houston and other Texas cities, they make "democratic-ruled" cities look like a quaint suburb. I'd rather be humble and homeless in the wild, wild West than to be humid and robbed in broad daylight in the lone star state. Or maybe I'll just stick to the cornfields I know šŸ¤—

America is always ranked near the top for quality of life.

Curious... what would you consider near the top?

I would say out of 195 countries being consistently ranked in the rop 25 is good. Especially as the 3rd most populated country in the world. China and India are the only other 2 countries with higher population, they don't rank as high.

Sweden has been ranking number 1. However the population of Sweden is around 10.5 million people. To put things in perspective California alone has a population of over 40 Million. New York CITY alone has almost 9 Millionn. Norway has less than 5 and 1/2 million people, and it usually ranks close to Sweden.

Ironically, Sweden changed their immigration laws in 2015 and closed their borders soon after. Making Sweden, along with the majority of the countries currently ranked in the top ten on Quality of Life, one of the hardest places to immigrate to legally or illegally.

Also ironically, Australia, Sweden, Austria, Germany, and the rest of the top 10 countries are consistently ranked higher as Capiptalist than the US. They have a more free economy with less government intervention.

All this goes back to my California to Texas example: Americans are so stupid these days that they make or vote for policies that destroy where they're at, so they move somewhere that sounds promising, they show zero to no respect for what made that place show promise, they bring their ideology, they over-populated, they use up everything, pass the same stupid shit they did in there last home place, and ruin the new state too. Could you imagine if every whiney ass American that said they wanted to move to Sweden, actually did? That many whiney people flooding into a population of 10.5., bringing ideals that go completely against what made Sweden (Sweden's president held a press conference to correct Bernie about rather or not they were capitalist or socialist. He was quick to proclaim they are capitalist first.) šŸ˜† 1 year tops and it's a 3rd world country.

So yeah, with all factors considered I think America, with a population almost 4 times that of Germany and 33 times that of Sweden, is probably the only country able to maintain a decent quality of life while constantly being kicked in the shins by people whose IQs and ideals aren't on the same page, and will just move and destroy another place anyway. I'm all for it though - I'll even help them pack.

ā€œAs of Dec. 7, at least 40,167 people have died from gun violence in the U.S. this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive – which is an average of almost 118 deaths each dayā€

There is a dirty little secret to the gun violence statistics that if brought up, I suspect would trigger the cognitive dissonance of a good number of posters on this site. But if you separate that factor from the statistics, the per capita rate of violence falls into a percentage of that of most European countries. That's one of the factors I noted in my dislike earlier--we can't properly address issues because people aren't willing to be honest, or admit they're wrong.

BTW, if the news of the Super Bowl rally for Kansas City reached your media--did it note that the main shooter obtained the gun he used illegally? That hasn't been widely reported.

ā€œAs of Dec.

The guy in the KC case wasn't unhinged. It was officially reported as a 'personal dispute' , but not until after a couple of days of hyping the 'mass shooter' angle (here we go back to corrupt assholes with an agenda item I mentioned in my first response).

When you see 'personal dispute' used by the US media in the context of the KC incident, it is the rough equivalent of the UK media using the term 'youths' in similar violent episodes. Both done with the intent of obscuring the truth.

I literally have a loaded 45 on my nightstand. I actually love that. I know if someone was to invade my home they would not only be greeted with my dogs, but then me unloading an entire mag into their body. I absolutely love that. Just the feeling of knowing you could absolutely end some dumb mother fucker while also pretending to life your life as some fake stable mother fucker is amazing to me.
Like I understand why Europe fears Americans. What I described isn't even the heart of it. Come try and live here one week .Mother fucker can't imagine .Get the real American experience. We live this shit daily mind you.
I'm just wondering. What Europeans has to fear us for? Just because we own guns legally and they don't? I just know they talk a lot of trash about America. The thing I don't know is why. When they trash talk us I just scratch the back of my redneck and keep things scrolling along. Also I don't get this "my state is the best state, our country is the best". Man damn all that competing bull. Not referring that to you but to those who loves bragging and boasting about the best this and that. They know exactly who they are.

I grew up around guns. My dad, uncles and pretty much all the men in my family are big hunters and gun collectors, pro guns and all that redneck BS. My dad sleeps with a loaded pistol on his night stand next to his bed every night. I remember as kids my brother and I were playing in their bedroom (we were not allowed in their bedroom) and my dad left his loaded pistol on the night stand as he did every night and my little brother was 3 or 4 at the time and I was around 7. He picked up the gun and pointed it at me saying bang bang you’re dead! Luckily my mom came upstairs to see what we were up to and snatched the gun away from him. I have always been afraid of guns. I don’t care to ever use one.

Too many!! But still I’d rather have the right to protect myself. More people around here die from drug overdoses than gun related deaths & a lot of people carry for protection. Seems to actually make it safer. It is a rural area not a big city though.

California and it has a lot to offer. The ocean, the mountains and amazing local produce.

Cost of living is insane, like you need to make $ 150- $ 250k to survive here.

The homelessness has gotten out of hand, which is a mix of cost of living and lack of proper support for mental health.

I love my state, I love the mountains and redwoods and the ocean. It breaks my heart to see what's happened to it. I am sure it's going to have an economic collapse sooner than later.

150-250K ? How do people manage to live?

Most of my single parent friends are in severe debt, no savings and extremely stressed. Unless you know someone to help secure affordable housing it's extremely hard out here. I have generational wealth to support me.

Granted, I also know a lot of very succesful people making over $ 100k... Virgo was making over $ 700k for the last few years. My bestie was at $ 150k by 31 years years old so she could support her household.

It is a crying shame how much violence goes on here in America. Actually no place is a hundred percent fool proof safe. I can't remember the last time I stepped out my house late at night to be honest. It's not safe no more like it used to be. And here in America we have our gun rights. I can't speak for all the others but I'm a licensed gun owner. My firearms can come handy just in case. I'm all for people owning guns but I'm not all for maniacs to own guns. I just wish all gun salesmans sell guns to those that's 40 years of age and up. And with a clean record. I can't say that I love guns and I can't say that I hate them either. I only hate guns in the wrong hands.

On the real tip though, everywhere you go is liable to be dangerous. If people don't murder you, food and yourself sure as hell will.

My parents’ experience is very similar to this. My dad’s very well traveled and has lived in various of other countries and nothing compares to the opportunities immigrants can get in America to become extremely successful. I highly doubt my dad would be able to do as well in Europe. Sure their standard of living is better than America in some of the countries but it’s extremely harder to find opportunities to make real good money.

Political corruption is literally prevalent in nearly most countries except your handful of unicorns here and there like New Zealand. I’ve literally pondered where else I could move to and America’s diversity in multiple aspects is simply unmatched. The gun violence is out of control (backed by corrupt politics) but in every country there’s always some kind of trade off you’ve gotta face.

I’m in Texas. While it’s geographically pretty ugly unlike California, I feel the people are more tolerable and definitely more down to earth than your average Californian. I mean they aren’t called plastics for nothing lol

Growing up I had an obsession with New York. I wanted to live there. I even had that dream as a kid. I love how diverse it is, but now that I’m older I don’t think I’d like to live there because it is too crowded and fast paced.

I was born and raised in the same city all my life and I don’t like the city I’m in, but California has better places to live. Only thing is the nice places are so expensive, so if you want to live that nice life style you have to have money. But overall Im grateful for the opportunities it has given me. I’m able to go to a good university when I would never be able to afford it. Other places don’t give that luxury. I feel like it’s easier to pursue your dreams

I’m not a fan of American culture or western culture in general but there are some good things about it.

I like how I can go to different cities and there is a different diaspora of ppl where you go. I don’t have to go very far, and for the most part there’s a lot of things to do here.

Florida

It's the Australia of the USA. It's fucking weird here. People do weird shit here. Weird shit happens. We have Florida man. We have bugs. We have dinosaurs. Our weather is bipolar. We have hurricanes. We have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We have palm trees.

I hate the Republicans. I hate the fact that everyone is moving here. I hate that people make fun of us and bitch about us but they always want to come visit us. I hate the tourist. I hate that I can't buy a home because they are over priced.

I'd like to move but the state I want to move to is on the other side of the country and cold.

Australia is the same size as the entire USA and it's 90% desert.
